"I sexually exploited a now-dead employee and also I've got God on speed-dial and he always does what I want" is quite the self-portrait. Of right-wing Christianity. And evangelical entitlement.

I think @hcrichardson.bsky.social has similar numbers (with less overhead and immeasurably more principle).
Screenshot of an X post by Prem Thakker summarizing remarks from the Columbia University president, stating that five DHS agents entered a campus residence without a warrant, claimed to be looking for a missing child, ignored a campus officerβs repeated requests for a warrant, and took a student. The embedded image shows a woman seated indoors in front of bookshelves, speaking directly to camera.
DHS is now lying its way into college dorms without warrants in order to seize students.
I'm putting on a hat so I can take it off to Dario Amodei:
βIn a narrow set of cases, we believe A.I. can undermine, rather than defend, democratic values,β Mr. Amodei wrote. βSome uses are also simply outside the bounds of what todayβs technology can safely and reliably do.β
I have stayed on my reps about this horrific bill, but they are small and cruel people. Keep in mind they refused to allow public comment on the bill that allowed this. They know itβs mean and evil.
A gnarled old tree, mossy trunk supported by posts, spindly new growth waiting to bud
Another old tree, upright this time. Mossy trunk, spindly new growth already with pink flowers
An overcast day but the Botanic Garden reopened after the cyclonic storm of a few weeks ago, and all of the subsequent clearing up, so I had to go check on my favorite tree. And my second favorite. They're doing okay. Overall, not too much damage that I could see.

@newyorkstateag.bsky.social pretty sure this means BP murdered this man. Pretty sure thats a crime in NY.
The city of Coimbra, Portugal, a huddle of old white buildings climbing a hill towards an ancient university. In the foreground, a river at low ebb, and a sandbank with birds sunning themselves
Since the storms and flooding, the cormorants and gulls are loving these new sandbanks in the river, and the return of π Still a climate emergency though
Now, this is a great idea.
wall alien baby passerby

The country weβre living in is being run by a madman. Led by a human whoβs the leader of a cult that believes him to be the second coming of Jesus Christ. A human they referred to his daddy.
A trans phobic homophobic racist.
But now has an open door.
And this is the result.
Under the leadership of Dr. Reimer, the Canadian Medical Association challenged the Alberta GAC restrictions, and didnβt mince words about what it meant for doctors to follow their oaths.
Surreal to read from the US, but so grateful to have you, @jossreimer.bsky.social

A bit late on thisβ but I have a poem out in the Winter issue of The Southern Review! @southernreview.bsky.social
a chair covered in slobbery bites from a box of tissues and a roll of toilet paper. no cats are visible so we donβt need to make accusations
So, early reports show someone dragged a roll of toilet paper AND a box of tissues onto the chair and took one million bites. We need more facts before we jump to conclusions
This is barbaric. There is no world where people don't die because of this policy. That's one of the many, many reasons the courts ordered these policies be changed in the first place after decades of refusal. But that's the point of this change, isn't it?
"Weekly protest numbers have risen to about 1,200-1,300, up from 800-900 last year. The total count since the start of the year has risen to 11,843. One thousand of those are student-led protests."

Please journalists: scientific findings donβt get βrevokedβ by politicians. They can be challenged or contradicted by other scientists in the presence of new evidence, sure. That didnβt happen here. Every new piece of climate science since the endangerment finding supports the original thesis.
Good luck! Also, I'm loving that the "yikes" emoji is doing double duty here :)
