If his job really is "not to be sensitive" then I suppose he can relish the fact that he's doing it successfully for once.

Build it and they will come and they'll want more. Safe, segregated cycling and pedestrian infrastructure improves safety and experience for all road users.
87% also said they wanted enforcement on illegal footpath parking: something that endangers pedestrians, removes accessibility & sightlines.
Does this man know that he's the Minister? Someone should tell him. He obviously wasn't clear on that after the floods in Enniscorthy and no one seems to have informed him.
Cycling numbers in Dublin up 50%
78% of people support #Love30 being rolled out and the Minister continues to do nothing
Yet Darragh O’Brien is still looking for the magic pill to solve congestion…
When they decided to make a movie about the 2004 Tsunami, the story was about a white family on holiday who had a rotten time.
If they ever make a movie about the 2026 attack on Iran, I fully expect it to be about influencers in Dubai wondering why they've done to deserve such treatment.
And the sun is shining...happy Friday!
Fantastic line-up of activities for @tudublinsustain.bsky.social Green Week 2026. Seed swaps, bike repair, hackathons, Friendly Fungi workshops, Repair Cafes, campus litter picks, sustainable career workshops! It's all happening next week. Well done all in @tudublin.bsky.social
We haven't had something this wild in Wexford, where our local paper is also run by the Indo, BUT my god is it biased towards small-minded misinformation, especially in terms of active travel. Everything is CHAOS. Mad claims are often not attributed and everything has a veneer of fear.
We’re currently attending a meeting in Arklow, organised by @malcolmbyrne.bsky.social covering public transport issues between Wexford/Wicklow and Dublin.
Increased rail and bus services are crucial in this region.
Footpath parking is illegal and it's a blight on our towns. It reduces accessibility, visibility, and causes a serious hazard on our roads.
This video shows why it is so important that we respect the footpaths and highlights the need for more robust enforcement by local councils and the Gardaí.
Every parent's worst nightmare.
Yet, we will still have ministers, judges and radio presenters make excuses and pass the buck.
Officials will still prevaricate on 30km/h limits out of a "precautionary approach".
Gardaí will still categorise motoring offences as "non-crime" and "square" them away.
There was (rightly!) an outcry after that young girl was killed by someone a Scrambler bike. We need the same outcry for the young girl this weekend killed by a motorist while on a PEDESTRIAN CROSSING.
Lives are being destroyed while the government wring their hands & do nothing to improve safety.
'Here in Ireland, in Europe and further afield, we are witnessing a deregulatory agenda cloaked in the language of simplification. Across the world, right-wing political forces are working to dismantle decades of environmental and social progress.'

The next time you hear some politician blaming pearl mussels or the Habitats Directive for flooding disasters, might be a good time to point this out to to them.

A decades worth of disruption is on the way which will exasperate the ongoing congestion issues. The passenger cap removal won’t help either
This is what happens when you continuously delay vital public transport projects

The arrogance of people who tell others what clothes and headgear they should wear doing daily things like cycling to the shop is unreal.
And none of them willing to wear high-vis or helmets in their cars "if it saves one life".
Anything, but safer streets, and enforcement of existing laws.
It’s impossible to feel magnanimous towards anyone who voted for this shower.
I was being a bit glib. But I’d take any form of intellect at this stage!
He did, in fairness.
*takes a deep breath* … eventually
I really hope I live long enough to experience the period of high intellectualism that comes after fascism...
I lived!
"Jose says that the Department of Transport officials appear to be confused this week." Perhaps an understatement given the many conflicting and confusing statements around mandatory helmets and high-hiz this week.
This really is the government of "blame anyone else". Let's ignore that between them FF and FG have never been OUT of power and blame Met Éireann, enviro regs, & JRs for floods. While we're at it, let's blame cyclists in normal clothes for road safety issues & people in DP for housing crisis.
The Road Safety Authority is not fit for purpose: Exhibit #3,298
A great piece by @whittledaway.bsky.social here. He speaks a lot of sense. I hope some Ministers are listening!
