Truly, huge thanks and gratitude from me to every contributing artist - not just for the Century of Sounds event, but for continuing to bring your enormous talents to Cities and Memory over the years.

It was special for me to put faces to names, to have the chance to meet in person, and to feel a genuine sense of a worldwide artistic community coming together. That’s what ten years of work on Cities and Memory has been building towards, and it’s worth every moment.

It was because contributing artists came not just from all over the UK, but as far afield as Japan, the USA, Spain and Italy just to be part of this - and because connections were formed, friendships were made and future collaborations were seeded.

This was one of the biggest days in the history of Cities and Memory - and not just because we took over the entire @pittriversmuseum.bsky.social, at which we demonstrated the amazing creativity & talent of Cities and Memory artists, or showed the careful reflection that goes into every composition.

What a night! Here are the highlights from the sold-out Century of Sounds launch event @pittriversmuseum.bsky.social. After hours in a museum is always special, and tonight was even more so, with stunning live performances, artists in conversation and samplers loaded with sounds from the archive.
