Those are adorable! Both the papercraft and the earrings...
absence of a diagnosis does not guarantee the absence of an illness - mamoru - if someone you know has oeen been suffering yet a doctor says nothing is wrong, which has happened to a majority of chronically ill people at some point, you have a choice. you can either believe doctor that you probably never met, or the person suffering. and I cannot emphasize enough how absolutely damaging it is for a sick person to not be believed. the believe
As Ted "Theodore" Logan awoke one morning from most heinous dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a non-resplendent bug.
Oh noooooooo!
Oh, I've done something very similar. π
In searching for a light and happy movie to watch tonight, we have settled on The Hunt for Red October. This is, I believe, the second time this has happened. π
Certainly not! I usually have four... π
Ooooh, love a couple of gingernut biscuits! π
Looks fantastic!
For #WordHistoryWednesday this week, we're looking at machine. This word has referred to a tool or device since its Ancient Greek beginnings, but that Greek word "machina" still pops up sometimes today...

We're celebrating Pride in my little corner of the planet as of this week, so to contribute I'd like to share the essay that (and I mean this entirely literally) made me realise I was non-binary: https://red-pens-and-playwriting.ghost.io/on-falsehoods-in-gender/
I also have a couple of creative writing posts on the blog about queer characters that you can find here: https://red-pens-and-playwriting.ghost.io/tag/queer/
My new Strange Horizons essay is up! With a deliberately provocative title!
WHY ALL SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY WRITERS ARE HISTORIANS
Yes, *all*
And, no, it isn't just for the reason you think...
I've been working toward this one for a while, very excited to share it!
Worst. Boss. Ever.
If you want to get a bit of an idea of what Red Pens 101 is all about, have a squiz at this!
I asked my brother to beta read my draft of Red Pens 101, and he's given me some really excellent feedback! Super happy with what he's said (and real impressed too), and looking forward to implementing it into my editing this week.
Big love to helpful bros!

I think I gotta say Yojimbo... (Kurosawa films in general are delicious, but this might be my fave out of them)
One of my favourites too! Sanjuro is also quite good, even though it's a complete tonal shift for a sequel.

Techniques: Assonance
Assonance is a fairly simple technique that you can use to make your writing hit a bit harder, and stick a bit longer.
Simply put: assonance is when the sounds are similar in the middles of words in a sentence.

I'm taking a break from working on Red Pens 101 this week before I dive into editing mode for March. It's leaving me at a bit of a loss today, though... what to do?
Open to suggestions if anyone has any!
insidestory1 on tumblr - I think one of the biggest misconceptions about fatigue is that it's just a more extreme version of tiredness. Fatigue and tiredness are not the same thing. The biggest difference between them is that tiredness goes away if you rest, but fatigue doesn't. When you suffer from fatigue, your body keeps draining you even while you're lying down or sleeping. It's like a leak's been opened up somewhere and your energy keeps draining away no matter what you do. All you can do is wait and hope that at some point the flow will stop.

I have ruined all other garlic breads for my wife with it! π
