Throwing a bunch of manuals into it and asking questions works really well in my experience, but a rookie is going to flounder. It'd probably be worse than traditional training (at least for my line of work) because the matter-of-fact tone of the responses will give said rookie false confidence /end

It'll sometimes get things wrong, so again, you have to know what you're doing to be able to see when it conflates things or gets confused and transposes things or whatever. At least it has all those citations so you can see the original text and figure out what happened.

NB I use Google's NotebookLM a lot because it really doesn't seem to hallucinate. It leans heavily on your sources and cites them to the point of excess. And it can do some stuff like write you SQL queries to save you having to look up how to do something you learned in college but forgot since.

But already after just a couple of months of picking off problems as I run into them, it's getting somewhat cumbersome keeping track of all the useful but small utilities I've made for myself. And I can only do this much because I know my field damn well and can communicate effectively through words

I don't think anyone's writing anything expansive with Claude Code that's worth paying for. Nor should anyone use it to write something with legal compliance attached.
But like, "I deal with these text-based config files a lot an want to streamline analysis"? Perfect use case. Works brilliantly.

It seems to me that the latest generation of vibe coding tools β gonna use Claude Code as shorthand, since it's the famous one now βΒ are best for lowering barrier to entry for nice-to-have projects. They're perfect for in-house tools, i.e., idiosyncratic automations that could never be productized.

Meta Workers Say They're Seeing Disturbing Things Through Users' Smart Glasses
Meta contractors in Kenya told two Swedish newspapers that they're being told to review highly sensitive footage recorded by smart glasses.
Most of the footage should never leave the userβs device. But of course the worst company doesnβt do privacy.
