And now that it's over with and I'm not really gonna try anything else along those same lines (organizing is such an energy drain for me π ), I can finally maybe get back to a more regular rhythm of day-to-day and get back onto various projects I've started/joined.
This was a post about pinball. π
It's kinda funny how things didn't go quite as planned for what all I was so heavily focused on organizing last month, but the end result raised awareness and got so much more reach than I could've even imagined, so it's about the same if not better of a result than I could've hoped for π .

Hey board gamers - your feelings an opinions about games are being turned into slop.
There's a channel called Board Game Critique. All their videos are clearly made with AI. They fess up to this, but they claim that they write their own scripts.
I cannot definitively prove that they don't, but 1/x
Good morning!
Admittedly - I don't really know what i'm streaming today.
But sure I have like 6 minutes to figure that out.

Today an IFPA staff member claimed they had absolutely no power within the IFPA to enact any meaningful change.
This sounds ridiculous because it IS ridiculous.
The IFPA doesn't fuckin care and competitive pinball is going to die under their care.
We can only hope an alternative springs up soon.
So cute!

inside under a "Triangle Pinball Collective" neon sign. we are lit very blue
Kat's and my wedding dresses ought to be worn on more occasions, which is why we wore them to a fancy pinball tournament today
I'm trying to avoid commenting on the news for my own mental health but I still feel the need to comment on that "a state just legally codified the literal dehumanization of an entire class of people" feels like it should be blasting the headlines, and yet... nothing

A question that comes up in the pinball world: why are we still protesting what happened at OBX?
When tournament staff removes a trans woman from the bathroom and threatens to call the cops, and the cis players play on, that's not a first warning something has gone wrong. It's a last warning.
last month's fundraiser was a huge help and things are looking up, but not as quickly as i want or need. today is my birthday and money is still kinda tight. if you're willing and able to support a trans woman in need, any contribution to buymeacoffee.com/pinballprimer is immensely appreciated
I'm 40. I've moved from social media platform to social media platform almost as much as I've moved irl.
Discord doesn't realize how easy it would be to leave behind. Especially once a feature identical alternative exists.
And something tells me that's not quite far off.
Finally got my first play, first heist of the second in last night (standard, non-casing-the-joint). I liked the changes over the original! Canβt wait to get the third to the table at some point.
Reminder: Trans and nonbinary People are being denied the ability to get our passports becuase the federal government won't accept our legitimate state documentation. This argument flies in the face of all established law in which state and local documentation is not up for federal debate.
IFPA: Trans women are women
Trans women: Thank you
IFPA: So we can sideline you and ignore your concerns, just like we do for cis women! Look how inclusive we are
Trans women: Hey that's actually not cool
IFPA: I'm sorry, was a woman talking? Couldn't hear her over all the pinball
Chicagoland Belles (the more suburban one) is also probably pulling sanctioning.
Chicago Belles, SF/Oakland Belles and seemingly the entire Pacific Northwest have removed IFPA sanctioning from their tournaments.
More and more places do not feel comfortable sanctioning.
How is this not setting off alarm bells at the IFPA? How is their response to continue to punish players??
The only other form is basically not playing in their tournaments at all, or having TDs defy this by still allowing opt-outs.
This all royally sucks...
The only "allowed" form of "protest" going forward is suppression, which locks you out of eligibility for states/nationals/worlds for that year, no matter how long you're suppressed for.
You're only eligible if from Jan.-Dec. of that year, you were never suppressed.
The most visible avenue of protest we had is going to be snuffed out at the end of February.

I havenβt done it entirely myself, though Iβve done initial research for PlateUp before another person was able to start on it before me. π
It ranges! There are a fair number of libraries available from Archipelago for many of the major engines & languages in order to build into mods for oneβs game, and then learning how to set up the items, locations, and pathing for the APWorld logic to work right.
Can the IFPA PLEASE STOP MAKING TERRIBLE CHOICES.
I keep reposting this article because it needs to be seen. This is what responsible journalism on a discriminatory act against trans people looks like. Jo put in the work.
It's no longer just my and others' personal accounts vs. random men with opinions.

So overall, I'd say this is a rather good article covering what went down at OBX in early Nov. 2025, and why I've continued to opt out of the IFPA since (aside from playing in States and getting wrecked in round 1).
I'll grant to those who are criticizing it that it certainly gives the IFPA a fair amount of leniency despite how little many of us pinballers trust them when the existing policies should've dropped OBX's points.
It *also* gives way more coverage in favor of the victims than they've received to date
