Longtime artist and art prof here, and venturing a wild guess that art demands sensitivity, self-awareness and empathy.

I saw a late night parade of Bobcats in my neighborhood as they finally freed up some streets and locked in vehicles. Out on Northern Parkway by Sinai they had front end loaders spilling ice into dump trucks. With no melt, the city is trying to get this stuff out.

We are close to undetectable, when it's done with care and no sloppiness. Everything goes sideways when it gets polished to the point of undetectable. My work at MAP points to the edge of undetectable. I see 0 movement in the United States to regulate it at the Federal level.

Let's just say that it's not a good day to get locked out of your house. I just got back in, thanks to a locksmith. It's rough out there, Baltimore.

Any day I get to visit The Parkway Theater is a pretty good day. Now, to find parking along the ice crusted streets of Baltimore.

The Brewer’s Art, a Mount Vernon mainstay, abruptly closes after 30 years Owner Volker Stewart informed employees by text message Monday that he was closing effective immediately due to financial problems, according to screenshots shared with The Banner.

And just like that, the Brewers Art is done. I've been going there for decades.

You can easily go down a rabbit hole reading (& listening) about the electronic sound score composed by Bebe and Louis Barron using hand built circuits and audio tape.

UMBC just called it asynchronous for the remainder of the week. Wild start to the semester, but clearing vast lots and walkways of ice inundated snow has been tough.

On the anniversary of my stroke I am thinking of the powerful Irish proverb: "Ar scΓ‘th a chΓ©ile a mhaireann na daoine," which translates to "Under the shelter of each other, people survive".

May this same spirit of community shelter carry us through the troubles roiling American cities.
