I, on the other hand, went into politics to do breakfast clubs *and* to launch a decade-long military ground operation in Iran. And I'm all out of cornflakes.

Two good Luxembourgish words for you:
If a pair of twins are identical, they are "eeneeëg".
If they are non-identical, they are "zweeeeëg".
My semi-serious suggestion in a 'polls still look terrifying in 2028' scenario is just go full unleash-chaos-and-see-what-happens and legislate to hold referenda on electoral reform, opening EU accession negotiations and replacing the Lords, all on general election day 2029.
It’s @weratedogs.com, but for strategy-less aerial bombing campaigns.
Rachel Reeves can be blamed for many things, but I doubt she is having much impact on US job creation figures… (check the very small print at the bottom)
Continue to require registration, under pain of prosecution for a false declaration, publish a list under the job titles for each MP - just as much information and enforcement as we currently have, but without making the names of junior staff public and potentially placing them at risk.
* There are quite a few councillors who also do some work for an MP, and that is rightly public knowledge and declared via their own council register of interests.
For overwhelming majority of MPs’ staff, nil returns are correct - there simply isn’t much in the way of cash or second jobs* floating around. In a decade doing it, I can think of one instance I was offered anything declarable (I turned it down). Anonymity, but published by job title is fine imho.
Bleurgh.
You’d have to admire the old bastard’s chutzpah if he suddenly took a late winter sun break to the BVI.
It certainly is a quality street when the fly-tipping is tagliatelle.
Oh yes, the registration process should definitely exist.
That is what is being proposed, but critcised for reducing transparency.
Not hugely happy about this latest addition to the (small) pantheon of bus influencers, tbh.
Especially when the overwhelming majority of entries on the register of staff interests are nil returns.
Yeah, not convinced that there's a major enough issue of MPs' staff engaging in serious influence-peddling to justify thousands of often lowish-paid, junior staff members having their names in the public domain, particularly in the current climate of unprecedented levels of threats and harrasment.
Yes, hence the pro-capybara teens texting about not eating capybara meat then.
lol! No, your description is just fine.
I am in awe of @intercitysimon.com’s perseverance and fortitude! Probably slightly too long on a non-favourite form of transport for me…
The Tory figure is slightly misleadingly high on there, as that includes £1.6m of Short Money (which the other three parties shown basically get nothing much or nothing at all in). JCB are still pouring money into the pit (which they probably dug) I see.
No, that’s Johnwayne.
Markwayne is a very efficient name, isn’t it? First name and surname all rolled into one handy word.
Presumably he’s going to make this apology for antisemitism but there’ll be a perfectly square piece of black dirt on the autocue.
Wasn’t Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas the job Sue Gray was supposed to be being moved to?
Would also enable me to institute my ‘only vote for guanaco herders’ rule.
Campaign to Make British Ballot Papers Look Proper Again.
Your regular reminder that the UK is in fact a high trust society and anyone who implies it isn’t is either selling you a pup or has bought one.
Look, if they’ve sold out I’m not sure why you are bothering to email me about it.
Intrigued to see RJK promoting iftar.
