Imagine thinking that's something George Orwell would even say
Toronto-based jazz singer Renee Brown performs during a Black History Month celebration at the Caledonia Legion in Caledonia, ON. Two attendees dance along to her performance.
It was a night of story telling, very very good Trinidadian food, and an incredible performance by Toronto-based Jazz singer Renee Rowe.
And doing double duty for The Haldimand Press this week I also got a chance to cover a celebration to cap off Black History Month co-organized by The Caledonia Legion and the Caledonia Presbyterian Church.

Oh wait that's probably a correct answer please ignore
Officials with Haldimand County, including Mayor Shelley Ann Bentley, participate in a Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the new Hagersville Library + Active Living Centre.
The new facility is fully accessible and combines a new library, community programming space, commercial kitchen, and an indoor gym. It adds much needed recreation and community programming capacity for residents of Hagersville and the wider, rapidly expanding Haldimand County.
For this week's edition of The Haldimand Press I covered the opening of the new Hagersville Library + Active Living Centre.

1. In yesterday's primary elections, anti-transgender Democrats found out the hard way why you don't throw transgender people under the bus.
Two anti-trans dems lost their primaries, including one that cast the deciding veto override vote, in blowouts.

What timeline did I end up in
John Tory wanted everyone to like him and be nice to him and not bring up anything awkward.
This meant no vision, no direction, just avoiding the ire of talk radio and Rosedale.
His clearest agenda items were too-low taxes and a bogus transit plan that died. Some legacy.

For @cmadocs.bsky.social and @healthcareforreal.bsky.social I dove into the definition of for anyone like me who may need a refresher.

That gap matters, especially now, when misinformation and disinformation are being weaponized to chip away at our public health institutions.
(And yesβTed and the Court were actually talking about a different Pβword entirely, but stay with me. The description still fits.)
We toss around the phrase public health all the time, pledging our support for itβyet we rarely stop to unpack what it actually encompasses.
Ted Lasso once explained offsides in soccer by comparing them to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on public health: βItβs difficult to define, but you know it when you see it.β
For @cmadocs.bsky.social and @healthcareforreal.bsky.social I broke down what a medical residency is, how it woks, and why you can remain confident you are receiving quality care even when residents are part of your care team.
www.cma.ca/healthcare-f...
But those worries are very often unfounded, and they down play the extraordinary knowledge, skills, expertise medical residents have, even if they are still technically finalizing their education.
Throw in a healthy does of medical drama brain from watching shows like Grey's Anatomy and The Pitt and a lot of people might tense up when they learn medical residents (as oppose to "real doctors") are involved in their care.
When receiving medical care it's natural to always want to be treated by "the best" available.
Congratulations and welcome home!
American and Israeli joint strikes in Iran are using tactics designed to maximize civilian casualties, even if you favor this war and support Trump's call for citizens to overthrow the Iranian regimen, what the hell could justify this strategy?
For the @cmadocs.bsky.social and @healthcareforreal.bsky.social I broke down the exact rules Canadian doctors must follow when it comes to endorsing health products so you can hopefully spot these scams more easily.
Itβs a thorny but sadly effective approach, and it has only become more widespread now that AI can fabricate endorsements from real doctorsβor invent doctors entirely.
A common tactic for scamming people into buying health products they donβt need (or that donβt work as advertised) is to claim that a medical doctor endorses them.
The amount of ads online that are promoting some hack SaASS AI tool to make you more productive at your white collar job while your managers workshop a way to make you permanently obsolete is so bleak
