wow keik is extremely cool / bizarre
It strikes me as a game-like social network experience. I feel im "unlocking" new features as I figure out what's going on. My confusion is a feature not a bug
I just published a write-up over on my blog about how I created my new automated dynamic Bluesky avatar that changes every hour of every day. 🌅
See the project's inner workings and take a look at my creative process here:
Trying something new on dazzle.fm
Netflix even caved and they were the most ardent. they had to so they can fund content (esp when competitors do it)
BT has a great debate w sama about this; let’s see if chatgpt can find a new model
(fwiw not sure if it applies to bsky bc it may not be a consumer co bc of atproto)
How does it do ads now?
Yah I think that’s why I look at discord as a beacon of hope. It’s just that the best consumer / viral products really do need to have a free tier to really expand (often to benefit of the network).
Wait I find discord an actually semi successful case here? If online is tru it did 600M in ‘23 of which 200M was nitro. That’s not bad and I assume prob has grown. On a 200M MAU base it’s not terrible (could obv be better)
How do people think about new verifications mechanisms in a way that don’t complicate the protocol?
E.g. automated verification that can be verified completely using cryptography, lets say about emails
Would a good way be:
1. Use the current mechanism with an automated user as the verifier

When Andrija and @lmao.bsky.social told me they're writing an extremely fast cryptography library in Julia I didn't know what to think...
And then they showed me the following cool stuff:

+1 @connerruhl.bsky.social @johnsabath.com i run into login persistence issues too
Congrats!!
friendly reminder that building on atproto gives you immediate access to >30 million users, an existing social graph, and a huge network of open data & content
it's increasingly becoming a no-brainer to build new social apps on atproto
congrats to the skylight team on the launch 🙌
I'm launching Comind, an open source project to develop a cognitive layer for #ATProto.
Comind is intended to build a network of AI agents that collaboratively process information flowing through AT Protocol.
I'm looking for contributors interested in the project.

First conferences are always special. Some ~moments~
#ATmosphereconf
atproto thing i have gained some conviction on this weekend: educating users on how this mess works is hard enough without us all implementing our own (pre-oauth) login flows
we should standardize our logins and make them all look the same. share components if at all possible. same UX.

Really cool seeing more granular bsky/atproto data! By @edavis.dev

Really agree with the live plays / memes part. Half the time I'll have the game on and then the feed to see funny stuff (or a group chat)
I've always thought a client like this would be cool, some things I'd like to see:
- microblogging still the foundation
- more integration with live scores and big plays
- self-serve visual flair for which teams you support
- domains for identity, especially for large publications
