This is political retribution—straight out of the authoritarian playbook.
Trump is attacking parents, kids, and low-income families to punish states that won't fall in line. He's using our most vulnerable as bargaining chips.
It's despicable and Californians won't stand for it.

The Richard Lloyd Band at the recordBar
Dan Jones and the Squids are opening for the Richard Lloyd Band at the recordBar.
Nation of Language at the Truman. First show of the new year.
Finishing up 2025 with Ultimate Fakebook in Manhattan, Kansas.
Happy to see Summer Breeze take a break from '70s soft rock to do a Tom Petty tribute.
Weird that when I show up for my physical, the song playing at the doctor's office is "Physical."
Summer Breeze in the autumn drizzle.
Ugh, I apparently forgot to do the Wordle the other day. So much for that streak.
I can't remember doing the Wordle in two guesses two days in a row before.

Some of the youth have found shoegaze, and I'm here for it. Wisp's current tour finished in KC last night at a sold-out recordBar, with more than a few minors out late (for a school night), dragging along a parent. The kids are alright.
I was feeling meh, as tends to happen, but Shonen Knife at the recordBar made me happy for a while. It had been 7 years since their last KC show, but I last saw them on Christmas Eve 2022 in Tokyo.
Bob Mould played to a packed, sweaty recordBar the other night.
Congratulations to Taylor Hicks and Tavis Smiley on their engagement!
That's thanks to my friend Scot, whose second ticket I am using.
An August evening with Wilco
That's tragic! I've seen them 18 times.
That their set will be shorter than a headlining set didn't help with any of it. I wish I'd won tickets.
Can't believe I'm not seeing the Jayhawks tonight, but (1) Grinders, (2) expensive, and (3) they're sandwiched between two bands I don't care about. Three strikes, guess I'm out.
Chris Stamey opened tonight's Big Star Quintet show with a solo set that started with "The Summer Sun," a 1977 single he recorded with Alex Chilton.
Forgetting why you opened a new tab is the new forgetting why you walked into a room.
Tonight's show is Willie Nile at Knuckleheads.
Costco has reminded me it's time to get ready for Halloween. Gotta do it before the Xmas stuff comes out next month.
Elvis Costello and the Imposters from the "cheap" seats.
Almost spaced out this show. Robbie Fulks at Knuckleheads.
Seashine at Lemonade Park tonight. Saint Louis shoegaze. My second time seeing them.
I first saw the Wedding Present on March 8, 1991, at 7th St Entry in Minneapolis. Their most recent album was Bizarro, and I loved it. Somehow it's 34 years later, and I went back to MN yesterday for the Bizarro 35th Anniversary tour. The current lineup was fantastic! An epic show.
