From my collection, some stunning beauty by the great (and hugely influential) Noel Sickles. Without Sickles Caniff doesn't become Caniff, and so on down the line. Sickles was also Toth's favorite illustrator.
Bought this at SDCC, high on life about a new gig that never actually happened.

Tomorrow is looming pretty heavily, but I just re-read @tomking.bsky.social & @mitchgerads.bsky.social Mister Miracle and the ending delivered some much-needed positivity.

Naoki Urasawa saying: Thinking from the beginning 'This person for this role'
Naoki Urasawa saying: Where actor's face comes to your mind
Naoki Urasawa saying: And sometimes you are completely blank when it comes to casting
Naoki Urasawa saying: Like, what kind of person is this?
Really like Naoki Urasawa talking about 'casting' for his characters while cartooning.
Some artists do the lazy version of this with just tracing or models in a blatantly bad way, but I quite like what he's saying in regards to trying to achieve variance in figures/people you portray on the page.

Nemo and the Princess travel to the end of the world where they encounter an old man. She explains to Nemo that this is "old 1906," and she reassures the crying man that he did the best he could. Then a chariot led by three horses comes from the sky to drop off a baby to the Princess, "little 1907." They head to the palace to show the baby to the Princess's father, passing a crowd of onlookers. The strip ends with Nemo waking up to his father wishing him a Happy New Year.
Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay from December 30, 1906.

In this eleven panel Sunday strip, Terry says a very awkward goodbye to Jane. She starts to walk to her plane but then runs back to give a big kiss to Terry. Then she slowly turns to board her plane and Terry waves goodbye. Then he walks away, past a sign for a New Year's party that reads "Ring out the old, and ring in the new."
Milton Caniff's last page on the comic strip Terry and the Pirates, which was published on December 29, 1946.

Sad to hear of the passing of Keith Giffen, a true original in comics as writer & artist, whose uniqueness, humor, & beauty made the Justice League, Lobo, Rocket Raccoon, & many other classic characters come alive in ways we had never seen. Rest in Peace, Keith. My love to his family & friends. ❤️

Keith Giffen, Justice League and Legion of Super-Heroes Icon, Passes Away at 70
Keith Giffen, longtime comic book writer and artist, best known for his work on Justice League, Legion of Super-Heroes and Lobo, has died at 70
Keith Giffen meant a lot to me, so his obituary at @CBR naturally is probably way too long, but even being way too long, it wasn't long enough, if you know what I mean. RIP to a comic book icon.

Various pages from the career of Keith Giffen.
Keith Giffen simply IS comics. Like Bowie, his stylistic transformations introduced super-hero readers to new and exotic influences. Though thoroughly a creature of the super-hero scene, he was always wandering toward the frontier of it, staking out new ground. A titan. His work in my collection:
