Sometimes I miss things just being what they are and not two or more things.
Invading a country isn’t like opening a casino and letting it go bankrupt because you know you can always take out more loans.
When our Armed Forces act, there are actual real world consequences for us AND the world, something our president doesn’t understand and his Yes Men refuse to acknowledge.
I’m not sure if there’s something analogous to malpractice insurance for software engineers, at least on the individual level that practicing attorneys require. I don’t know anyone who got into law for the tedious work, but I also don’t know anyone willing to risk their bar license over it.
I’m glad to have practiced when tools like Westlaw made research more efficient than thumbing through books. I’m sure that research tools were always going to improve in one way or another. But I’m not as sure that the core basics of what makes a good versus bad lawyer have really changed or will.

The discussion around AI as applied to the legal profession leads me to think that a lot of people think “the law” is basically just a big Wikipedia-style exercise, in which lawyers are basically just Wikipedia’s working together to reach a consensus on the “right” answer to any question.
