I hate the parental rights argument. Children are intelligent (if impulsive) agents and deserve much more medical autonomy than we give them.

If "giving my sick child care prescribed by a consensus of medical professionals" isn't included in parental rights, how can anything else be?

If conservatives want to give parents strong ownership of kids, they must allow parents to provide gender-affirming care.

They wrongly claim "it's not been proven effective". If true, so what? Neither has faith healing or homeopathy. But they consider those to be absolute parental rights!

The anti-trans movement wants an absolute right of parents to control their children, from the kids' religion to their gender. The state must obey the parents.
