Do you know if there was a specific gun that the Varmint Rifle from Fallout New Vegas was based off of or what it a completely fictional design?

Of course neither of those mean that there wasn't a precedent set in 1 and 2 but I would have thought that if that was something developers were aware of they would have tried to follow it as well.
Of course there were, but I didn't think there was an established pattern. Given Van Buren had Vault 70 in Salt Lake City (plus Tactics had Vault 0 in the Midwest instead of where you'd think it would be following that precedent).
Interesting, thank you!
I accidentally said "that" in the first paragraph instead of "the", hope that doesn't make the question too confusing ๐ญ

In the Fallout series that West Coast Vaults are all seen to be of lower numbers compared to the Vaults on the East Coast. Did the New Vegas team decide to follow the pattern that was seen in 3 on their own or was that something Bethesda had asked you guys to abide by?
