Kicked off #Goldschmidt2025 yesterday by running a super fun workshop to help students write their first fellowship! It was extremely rewarding to facilitate their discussions and see their first draft come together in a few hours!!
Aaaand I also got to present my silly poster afterwards hehe
Presented at the Future of Volcanology today at #IAVCEI2025
Despite delays from the previous talks & tech hiccups (while we were all starving!!), Iβm so grateful for those who stayed till the end with me.
The feedback and support afterwards truly made it all worth it!
#SendMeteoricWater
Currently experiencing low-grade metamorphism in Geneva. Just me, not the rocks βοΈπ₯΅ #IAVCEI2025 #MeltRocksNotPeople
Despite the scorching heat and a touch of sushi-induced food poisoning, #IAVCEI25 has been SO MUCH FUN! Old friends, new friends, tons of cool science, and of course, swimming in Lac LΓ©man π
Also kinda loving when people say they know me from Bluesky/Twitterβ¦ pls keep it coming ππ
@iavcei.bsky.social made a spreadsheet of tomorrows talks #iavcei2025 - docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
After a couple weeks hanging out in Zurich with my friends and getting some data at ETH, I am now heading to Geneva for #IAVCEI2025 ! π€π
Who else is coming?? π
And so summer has began!
I had a wonderful time at the Alaska Aleutian in Anchorage last week. Lots of fun science conversations, great new connections, and amazing sights in and around Anchorage!
HAHAHA honestly this seems tots worth the trouble
I did not expect this to get this much attention π€―
If you like meteorites, come visit us at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History!
Not only we have an amazing collection but you are likely to see me sneaking in and out from hidden doors through the exhibits ππ»ββοΈ
You know you work at the COOLEST place when you randomly get to hold pieces of the MOON and MARS at the same time ;)
Brushing off the cobwebs here! πΈοΈπ
Spring flew by in a blur: events at the Smithsonian, talks at UBC, UC Riverside, UMD, & a GSW poster at Carnegie (yes, Iβve been talking a lot).
Now bracing for the summer travel + conference sprint. Excited for science, snacks, and hopefully fewer airport delays!
The next EGU Campfire fo the GMPV division is in one week!
January 23rd at 4pm CET π
This time we have @luud.bsky.social, Melanie Sieber and Jessy Dominique.
Register to the talks by using this link π

When SolimΓ΅es and Rio Negro meet, they become the massive Amazon river. But because of their difference in density, they donβt mix right away.
I donβt think liquid immiscibility can get any more clear than that!
The Smithsonian Mineral Science fellows ;)
This crowd is amazing and I canβt explain how much fun (and snacks lol) we have in the office every day.
Glad to be part of this amazing group of young scientists and grateful for all the super inspiring and funny chats we had the past few months!
So is there really no ice breaker at #AGU24 tonight? Whereβs everyone hanging out?
Super excited to see everyone here arriving in DC! Welcome, everyone! Looking forward for a fun week with friends and cool science! #AGU24 βοΈπ§ͺ
ahhh excellent!! Thank you!!
If you donβt know what to do in DC, just come visit the BEST natural history museum EVER ;)
This weekend you might even find me buying emotional support cake at the museum cafeteria as I frantically try to get my AGU presentation ready π«
So who is coming to DC for #AGU2024 this weekend?? Shout if you any help or tips for getting around in DC! Also shout if yβall are already getting beers before the conference cause Iβm READY π
βοΈ So I made a feed! It tracks some of the geo-focussed weekly hashtags that have migrated here from Twitter, like #ThinSectionThursday, #FossilFriday and #FridayFold.
Focussing on hashtags where people share pretty and interesting rocks and landscapes. If there are more I should add, let me know!
There is a website called social blade! It should do the trick!
Flyer to invite attendees of the international conference AGU24 to attend the GeoLatinas small connection gatherings hosted by the people on the flyer. Come chat with us, eat sweets from our countries and get to know each other!
Who will be at #AGU24 ? Raise your hand! Levanta la manito ππ½ββοΈ
I'm working on the GeoLatinas presentation with Danita, @caroll03.bsky.social , @luud.bsky.social , Dariana, @malenaoa.bsky.social , Gaby, & adding a slide about our connection space (Pods), come see us!
#GeoLatinasAroundTheWorld
π it tots is! Now I just need to figure out what I do with it π«
I analysed ~300 apatites and they all look the same
Follow us! go.bsky.app/TapnEve via @olivertlord.bsky.social
I use it mostly for Archean stuff, and sometimes for some of the older Paleoproterozoic rocks (> 2 bi yrs)
