I remember when ‘Brexit Means Brexit’ became a way for silly people to insist that they supported something they could neither justify nor explain. Obviously the context is very different, but something similar is already happening with the ‘war’ in Iran. And it’s mostly the same people doing it.

a complicated thing about terror attacks on the US is that most of our actually-important sites (Pentagon, the White House, etc) are designed hardened or in a dense environment where attacks are hard. It's not like the President decamps to an unsecurable beach resort where people can just walk in.
