As with most places, we've allowed cars to crush our tiny islands of Trinidad & Tobago. We don't expect everyone to ride a bicycle for transport, but we would like the population to have viable alternatives when it comes to travelling around a tiny place.

Women are still vastly underrepresented in planning and politics, in part because they feel the halls of leadership aren’t for them. After all: if you can't see it, you can't be it.

In Manila, Keisha Mayuga met a mother on the bus commuting over two hours in traffic each way. Determined to act, she helped launch a bike-lending movement and pop-up lanes in the city.

It's time to tackle the cycling #GenderGap ♀️

On #InternationalWomensDay we want to raise awareness of the barriers that stop women getting on bikes.

Our upcoming #WalkingCyclingIndex for Scotland reveals the number of women cycling in our cities is still half that of men πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

This #InternationalWomensDay, we’re celebrating 1 year of #MyRideOurRight. Cycling means independence, freedom, and community (and that’s our right). Share our guide with your council to help shape the next generation of cycling

We must always be asking our cities to do better.

We also have to be the voice that leads for them to get better.

I wish we had a neighborhood or main street closed to cars on Sundays for a few hours so people could walk, shop, and bike.

It could promote exercise and support local shops weekly.

It doesn’t matter whether the rate of global warming is increasing. It’ll never cease to amaze me that people don’t care that it’s happening at all. It should be the most alarming thing ever.

Do car-free zones hurt disabled people? We asked experts. City planners and advocates are seeing "accessibility used as a political football."

We treat car dependency as freedom, yet keep kids strapped into backseats for years. The real freedom is what you see here, safe infrastructure that lets children safely ride and explore their city on their own terms with fewer threats from motorists that hold them back.

The Department of Education is dismantling programs for millions of kids and refusing to show its work. ProPublica is suing just to see the decision trail. When you have to litigate for basic transparency, the cover-up IS the policy. #resisters

This one I found interesting :)

The Sun makes a sound but we can't hear it. In the form of pressure waves, the Sun does make a sound. The wavelength of the pressure waves from the Sun is measured in hundreds of miles, however, meaning they are far beyond the range of human hearing.

WELLBEING
From measuring illness, mortality, healthCARE costs, to what improves well-being.
At neighborhood level:
β€’ Parks within walk
β€’ Daily walk & bike / time physical activity
β€’ Hours of sleep
β€’ Socializing
β€’ Access to healthy food

What is measured is improved.

I get that malls are dying, but our malls are still important third places.

Particularly in Edmonton where winters are freezing and summers can be too hot, malls are safe places for people to gather.

We used to have farmers markets in them. Community events, too.
Strip malls are far more dead.

this must be one of the most impactful decisions made in many years to reduce car use where it matters the most.
A 200% increase in transit use by students is phenomenal, strongly disputing the claim that no fare transit is not impactful enough
