reminder that color-blind casting in the audio scene will always lead to a white-leaning cast because the majority of people who audition are white.
write diversity into your shows and cast intentionally, a character's race/gender DO impact who they are and you should know that before casting.

If you haven’t listened to anything new in a while and need a place to start, I cannot recommend any of these shows enough!
@gamemastermonday.bsky.social is a one shot podcast using a new TTRPG system every episode. Their one shots are a fun showcase of indie systems, and the GMs do a great job of explaining all of them. In addition, their miniseries are a top tier example of telling meaningful stories in a short time.
@souloperatorpod.bsky.social is an interesting blend between the worlds of actual play and audio drama. The reframing of solo games makes for a more compelling storytelling experience than a single narrator, and the characters felt more relatable as a result. Caught up and ready for season 2!
@theheartisadungeon.bsky.social is truly a podcast for heroes and poets. Each short series is a new journey, and the abstract, introspective storytelling style is one I haven’t seen in any other actual play. Caught up and cannot wait for the next series!
@oldgodspod.bsky.social is a must listen audio drama for any horror lovers out there. The anthology style makes the stories easy to pick back up even after a break, and the narrator has mastered the art of pacing. Caught up and cannot wait for the next season!
@worldsbeyondnumber.bsky.social is an obvious choice in the AP scene at this point. The sound design and world building create a story that pulls you in and keeps you hooked. The short stories are fun, but long form storytelling is where this team truly shines. Caught up and can’t wait for more!
