come watch us co-op up the Spire!
i definitely wanted a different style and feel to this specific cover. some energy to match the action, highlighting the spirit of fighting games. hope y'all enjoy!
my second cover story as a video guy! really excited about what's in the hopper for this issue. some great interviews and insight into the making of Invincible VS, starting off with how it went from comics to fighting games.
oh didn't know that one - love (hate) to learn its wider spread than i thought ๐ซ
i know i probably shouldn't expect better, but i think if you're one of the few people still employed in this space, you have a moral obligation to not write the "we asked an AI what it thinks of X and here's what it said" posts
yeah this is way better than any slop trough a techbro could invent
what's cool about webp is that no one likes it and no one has ever asked for it

almost forgot that this is the whole point
and so most places were probably going to take a delayed approach anyways, or an in-progress, or something similar. which honestly just makes the ask for consideration odd.
tldr+imo, covering a live service game has to be a longer process that has to be in conversation with a live game your audience is already playing. which can be a challenge. but can inspire thoughtful critique! but doesn't fit traditional structures well. (1/)
plus, you really do need lots of time for these. i still remember putting like, ~150 hours into Battleborn between early access and release versions. i've got almost 5k hours of Dota 2 and i wouldn't know where to start with a review of it. i'd probably end up writing a novel.
this is a suggestion anyways, so it wasn't gonna mean much. but reviewing live service games always feels a bit odd, too. i usually its just digging into a game's base fundamentals, because odds are fairly high that things could change in 6-12 months, or with rollouts of new content.
We clarified with PR last week โ the clause in discussion is merely a suggestion in this case
slay the spire 2 in the pokopia font
this game makes my brain go brrr in ways that are difficult to put into words (but I might try anyways)
like we weren't gonna clear base run 1 on Ironclad cmon now
we're so back
my 9 games. tried to not make it my Favorite Games, but instead the 9 most foundational games that determined my course in life.
i am retreating into my Spire Hole and will not return for several moons

honestly a lot of the same. gaming area can feel a little packed, depending on how condensed the booths are. food options are still good, esp if you head a bit out from the center.
also i'll be out there, so let's catch up!
AC multiplayer was soooo fun
my essay in this is about writing twine games that feel like this
