So you live in that awful in-between space, hoping at the very least that they donโt end up dead, or that they donโt end up hurting someone else. (4/4)

You can be the best parents in the world and still have a child struggling with drugs or alcohol. And if they donโt want help, there isโquite literallyโnothing you can do. (3/4)
Addiction is brutal. It doesnโt care about politics, and it doesnโt care how much money, love, or effort you pour into trying to fix it. (2/4)
The saddest part of the Rob Reiner death discourse is that, right now, there are thousands of families terrified of this same scenario happening to someone they loveโwhile watching strangers blame the Reiners for not doing enough and fearing the same judgments would be made about them. (1/4)
An underrated classic.
I can already tell what the next few weeks are going to be like:
โKatie, your PhD is about the video game industry and culture?
What does โNotices bulge, OwO whatโs this?โ mean?โ
The age of enshittenment.
I always wondered how people would have thought about Charles Krauthammer if he lived through the first administration?
"Get it all on record now. Get the films. Get the witnesses. Because somewhere down the track of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened."

There are a surprising amount of MAGA that think Cartman as Charlie Kirk means that South Park agrees with Charlie Kirk.
There is actually a really good book on the subject called โKnow Small Parts.โ
Excellent resource on how to approach them (and how to network from it).

I was about to say, based on the stuff he was saying it sounded like some type of mental health episode or break from reality.
The sad part is that the reply still probably went over his head.
And then the ADHD comes in to hyper fixate on what counts as being โdepressedโ for More than half the days. Like I was sad on Tuesday, but like sad sad on Friday, but felt okay on Monday.
I hope they give Tadanobu Asano a chance to stretch his comedy chops a bit. I miss a snarky Raiden.

The Jennifer Love Hewitt discourse reminds me of the time someone said Jennifer Connelly was only a 7/10 by 90s standards and the entire internet exploded.
1) How dare you rate a person like that?
2) In what universe is Jennifer Connelly in the 90s a 7/10?!?
I am so sorry to hear but it does sound like you made the right, though hard decision. Sending positive vibes to you and family.
I wanted to check in to see how your pup is doing. Shake is about to finish round 2 of chemo and is currently is remission.
Just found out about this upcoming game (@billiebustup.com) and I am loving this trend of video game soundtracks doing the most! ๐ฅฐ

In that regard, thatโs where I think social media can be more dangerous because it reaffirms the group mentality (and the consequences of voicing an opinion โoutsideโ the group).
I do think social media is definitely more amplified. But I know for my parents who arenโt engaged in social media, they still are absorbing information from radio, TV, news, without considering how itโs โtailoredโ to them. What I think social media has done is made it more relationship based. (1/2)
Honestly, itโs pretty much all media and the only way to combat it is to accept that everyone (including you) is susceptible to those tactics. Accepting that makes you more comfortable with being skeptical.
America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.
Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.
Wait, Fragrantica is a Trump support company? How disappointing.
So I am a bit of a perfume nerd so went to the site just to see what they would consider "Victory 45-47." First off, nobody is (or should be) paying ~$250 for non-designer fragrance.
And they don't even list the scent notes! WHO DOESN'T LIST SCENT NOTES!?!
