Just back from the RMA Conference in Southampton - an inspiring few days full of musicology, new ideas, and wonderful conversations. Highlights included keynotes by Mariana Ritchey and Sara Collins, plus fascinating talks on amplification, EDI, and collaboration with composers.

Worked for more than 1 hr on a presentation including loud scrappy rasgueado sounds today in a cafeteria. Tuns out my earphone were not plugged in and the whole place got hit with infrequent unpleasant noise at my convenience. I guess I won’t be back #phdchat

Yeah, I’m so sorry I missed him! I’m predominantly looking into sound production, so plucking hand technique, rather than fretting hand situations. Maybe something for the next dissertation? 🤔
Yes, there will be techniques that are either plucking, strumming or a combination. There might not be too much more gypsy stuff and this is only a partial draft right now, but I’ll do my best to keep reporting on this.

It definitely took some getting used to at first. I decided to start with a paper for my first project rather than the thesis and that was really good. Gave me a chance to gain experience and set up everything the way I wanted to.
Scrivener is great. I love it.
