watched a kung fu movie recently that subbed "jianghu" as "Demi Monde" and that sent me reeling for several minutes

Axios is LYING. Like, bald-faced full-on knowingly dishonest bullshit lying about this. The boycott is not over, the organizers have not said they are ending the boycott. staging.blacksky.community/profile/did:...
Are there any particular episodes you think are stand outs even if the series as a whole ain't great?
I don't really want to dedicate myself to watching the whole show, but I could maybe find time for just a bit of Rom Stol being cool.

...I have a hunch I made a post just like this the last time I watched Redline, but that would have been back in the cohost era...
The titular Dallos from Dallos, a giant mechanical form partially buried within the surface of the moon.
Another shot of Dallos's head, this time revealing some of its inner mechanisms.
I really like Dallos a lot, but it's mostly a show about oppressed people discussing politics, talking theory, and very occasionally being shot at by the police. Which rules, but uh... don't expect anything like Redline.
It does have it's own Funky Boy, though, it the titular Dallos.
A scene from Redline. The laborers declare that they need to wake up the bioweapon "Funky Boy" to topple their oppressive government.
A continuation of the previous screenshot, concluding the laborer's assertion that they need to awaken the bioweapon.
A screenshot from Dallos. An insurgent declares that they need to rely on "Dallos" as their fortress against the colonial forces.
While a lot of referential elements feel like they simply draw from broader anime archetypes, this particular bit using clearly modified mining equipment feels like a very direct riff on Dallos in particular.
...which I find funny, because Dallos is about as plodding as Redline is fast paced.
A scene from the movie Redline. Laborers from the evil planet Roboworld sabotage their government's infrastructure using mining robot suits.
Another scene from the movie Redline. The laborers attack robot police using modified mining equipment.
A scene from the original video animation, Dallos. A labor insurgency fights off an attack by the ruling colonial police using mining robots that have been modified into war machines.
Another scene from the original video animation, Dallos. Insurgent forces fight off the cops.
Just watched Redline with friends again. It was brought up how so many background character and events felt like their own separate, major stories.
A less prominent but quite direct example is how the bit with the laborers rebelling using their mining mechs is straight from the '83 OVA, Dallos.

My new Purity Litmus Test for any Democrat in politics is to at least talk like uhh this cato institute gentleman
The Mondara Incident is inspired by Outer Wilds, Void Stranger and Link's Awakening, among others. Most progression is non-linear and unlocked through player knowledge. If that's your kind of game, you should check out the demo/teaser.

Have you heard of J9? They used to raise hell across the Solar System, back in the day.

I just released a short playable teaser for my upcoming game The Mondara Incident! It's an atmospheric puzzle exploration game about a small town that suddenly vanishes. The teaser has content not included in the full version and two endings! #gamedev #indiedev qwarq.itch.io/the-mondara-...
Spent the last month or so working on this new (and very important!) area for ABYSS X ZERO!
Haven't worked on an area like this since the Downtown from UNSIGHTED, so it's been very nostalgic to create these urban/city assets.
A lot of WIP elements here still!

Thinking about this again.
I'm not saying skins should be covered by insurance. That would be silly. What I'm saying is that if insurance covered what it was supposed to, this would be a justifiable expense.
With so many games dependant on skin sales I'm genuinely surprised that genderswapped versions of characters are not more common. People will pay $20 bucks just to be a girl. More than that, even.

This International Women's Day, we say it loud ๐
Trans women are women.
The systems that try to exclude trans women โ the policing of bodies, the gatekeeping of identity โ are the same systems that have always been used to harm women everywhere. Oppression doesn't protect anyone. Solidarity does.
