A freelancer, Rosenfeld does not work at Mojang (that would simply be too many Dannys), but given the deep ties, there's sure to be much more cooperation in the future.
Brought on when Minecraft was still in its infancy, C418's (AKA Daniel Rosenfeld's) music deliberately subverted expectations. Though Minecraft has extremely basic graphics, the gentle, minimalist, randomly-playing music struck a chord. Now, Minecrafters can listen to it at their leisure!
Today, C418 releases Minecraft - Volume Alpha.
His first commercial album, half of the tracks are from the game and half are album exclusives / unused / borrowed from Life Changing Moments. Those lifted from Minecraft are finally officially named (e.g. "calm1.ogg" is called "Minecraft").

"Big or small, the games that are nominated for this year's Seamus McNally grand prize all had humble origins. All touched us in unique ways. Here are the nominees for the best independent game of the year."
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Desktop Dungeons
"The IGF is not intended to make a small thing big. It's to remind us that there's beauty hidden in the shadow... of the big games. The IGF reminds the world that the flower is as beautiful as the forest, and the discovery of a diamond is as worthwhile a pursuit as the discovery of a mountain."...
"When you're indie for long enough, you learn to become myopic. You learn to make little things. Selling 1 unit is thrilling. I knew an indie who lived out of his car in Mexico stealing WiFi from internet cafes. Who can expect to make it big with a corporate strategy like that?"...
Previous Seamus McNally Grand Prize winner Andy Schatz had this to say prior to announcing the winner:
"In the real world, people build big things... in the real world, microtransactions make macro profits and a million unit seller is a failure. In the real world, bigger is better"...

Today, Minecraft wins 5 out of the 6 awards it was nominated for by the GDC + IGF! (Plus an audience award) The combined award show runs for two hours and features the smallest of indie games at the start, the largest AAA titles at the end, and Minecraft all throughout. (a first for GDC!)

In non-Minecraft news, Mojang has officially announced their secretive second game: Scrolls!
Being the main focus of Jakob and Junkboy from the get-go, the game won't significantly impact Minecraft's development, but will be a card/board game fantasy game with a simple, uncontroversial title.
Markus Persson, sans hat, being interviewed by 2 guys sitting on the grass with him in the sun.
Today, GDC continues. More meetings and meals are had, plus an interview in the park with PCGamer!
Some who got to network with Mojang were Curse (who run the Minecraft Forum and Wiki), and Danny, composer for Super Meat Boy (not be confused with any of the 3 Minecraft-related Daniels).

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was officially established. This formation was a core component of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which restructured federal agencies following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

In March news, the new month is bringing in more than Madness, but full-on Mayhem! The Escapist Magazine has started a tournament involving 64 developers, including the young upstart Mojang. Brackets can be made starting today, but voting doesn't begin until the 14th. How far will Mojang make it?
