The event set out the economic case for a transition to a sustainable future, showcase the trillions invested by the private sector over the past five years and
outline increased ambition for 2030 and beyond.
In a world of volatility and despair this was a sorely needed re-energising community.
What a head-spinning week! Two huge days at the invitation of the Sustainable Markets Initiative / #TerraCarta roundtables and exhibition at Hampton Court Palace.
It's not often you get to meet world leaders, CEOs, astronauts and King Charles!
The curse of our times absolutely nailed here. Adolescent like, commercial hubristic opportunism by wannabe kings. Well done Ian Hislop.
Tried it once, but Popeye got jealous.

Just wow! @2030hub.bsky.social has jumped to 1.4k followers whilst I wasn't looking!
a cartoon with two panels panel one is a stick figure saying "oh! a fossil fuel!!" standing above a crudely drawn black lump under a brown ground Panel two is them walking away and saying "I'll just leave it there" The head of the person is not a drawn circle but the letter O, because the random software I used to draw it did that for unexplained reasons
Please allow me to re-share my rough sketch of some advanced carbon capture technology

Groups of businesses at a time need to be supported, and as close to their operational timing needs as possible, if they are to be competitive as individual companies or as together as regions, cities and towns.
The opportunities (and demands) are there for green growth, and so is the finance.
@2030hub.bsky.social always does what we can with individual businesses that ask for help, and will always signpost to whatever support is around wherever they may operate from, but the real answer needs scale.
There is precious little or ineffective practical support for pragmatic sustainability reporting, or net zero for that matter in many regions, cities and towns, especially if you are not in a targeted / high-growth sector.
Many SMEs are struggling to survive in a world of constant uncertainty and huge energy bills. There needs to be significant new business support from national and local governments - which also helps their own net zero targets.
Great report via Sage and International Chamber of Commerce, but to access the specific sustainability finance SMEs need they need far greater support in sustainability reporting and avoiding the overwhelming nature of its complexity.

How privatisation works (and Thames Water is just the latest example).
1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company.
2. In doing so, it creates a monopoly.

Spending way too much time seeing who is / not here. Fun though.
#COP29 won't be what we need it to be, but we still need to use it.
