That’s great. We are 190+ and the freeholder also owns a chunk of the flats so effectively could veto. However our main issue has been section 20 notices for works we would have needed regardless of the overall ownership structure.
Interesting! How many flats are in your block if you don’t mind me asking?
I’ll never forgive him for what he did to Liesl von Trapp.
Share of Freehold flats pay service charge too.
Someone talking about them in India or from an Indian perspective would call them an emigrant (or whatever term they locally use like we say expats). Expat is a term used within Britain about Brits who have left, we don’t refer to Polish expats. There isn’t a racial element to it.
Surely in the British context someone who has left is an emigrant. Therefore a British newspaper would call them emigrants (or expats as has been standard for decades). An Indian coming to Britain would be an immigrant. I don’t think the consistency you want is necessary at all.
Wouldn’t the term be emigrants?
Many such cases. BBC Sussex ran a story last week about a guy who says it’s harder for gay people to get support for gambling addiction. Turns out he worked in a care home and had stolen £250k from the elderly residents. Whoops!
British people who live in other countries don’t pay tax here. I don’t see how many expats can meet your criteria of “If you want a nation state safety net, you should bloody pay for it”. Some people dislike the types who move to Dubai, it’s just status signalling.
Do we know that the tens of thousands of Brits in the UAE, Qatar etc actually think that? There have been comments from some notable people but I think for most they have moved for similar reasons as other people to other countries - work, weather, family etc.
Extraordinary levels of midwittery on display. Only people who contribute to HMRC should receive protection from the British state? Is that the line now?
How would you apply this maxim to others seeking refuge or support from Britain? Should the RAF have asked to see the P60s of British nationals rescued from Sudan in 2023?
What do you think the link between these things is?
Recent events suggest Tony Blair has been proven right on this one.
Say what you want about twitter... but if you want to monitor the situation it's where you need to be.
{guy who supports a team who dropped points to Wolves voice} you know Wolves since O’Neill came in are actually quite a good side
This is how I discovered Polanski’s position on ‘natural birth’ and god, fuck this so so much
Seems like a really obvious take… Labour might lose because Labour are unpopular and notably haven’t fielded their strongest candidate. Perhaps someone in Manchester could explain to us why we’re wrong
Clearly she inspires incredible loyalty from her colleagues! Anyway, as a private sector PAYEpig I don’t care that much about bullying in the civil service because I’m not a civil servant.
Have they done a Sir Cliff to Andy?
The worst thing is that the pressure is building more with every bad result and they don’t look like they can handle it. Last night was harder because of Brentford, Forest etc. Sunday is going to be like that 21/22 NLD x100. They cannot wait to chin us.
My problem with Morgan McSweeney? He didn’t stitch up the candidate selections enough.

But if the accusations are already in the public domain then why not just say them? Looks like he’s using innuendo to imply something is worse than it may actually be. I am not meaning to be disagreeable btw just giving my impression having watched the interview
But he isn’t willing to say what the obvious is in this case… just alluding to it on national tv and then refusing to say what it is.
Building more of a picture of a guy who’s high on his own supply
He just seems like he so obviously has an axe to grind. His lack of subtlety detracts from how credible I find him as an outsider.
And the reason for the increasing homogeneity of pubs is because the large chains are able to tolerate the higher costs for longer than an independent. Wetherspoons can leverage enormous economies of scale.
Government can’t fix the demographic pressures hurting pubs but they can reduce the tax burden. It’s not a neoliberal conspiracy to realise this.
