well I hate everything. Especially all things that mess with my kids (soccer loving kid who has played since she was 3 years old, demoted to div 3, beginner tier, and all them theatre things that my other kid auditions for and watches her friends get)

Work hard, love deeply, despair devastatingly

My ICQ UIN is 7231680. That number is burned into my consciousness. I inadvertently learned that you could see private conversations in public chat rooms when using Telnet instead of a browser on GeoCities. I can tell you the difference in audible dial-up handshakes between 1200, 2400, 14.4 kbps modems. I needed a edu email address to join Facebook after my university was admitted. We were here at the beginning. We made social media. You wouldn't be in my Top 8. I have usernames older than you.

My father when babysitting my toddler when I went back to work would listen to Maddow. My child would ask “one Maddow” instead of a bedtime story.

She’s 15 now. And took her grandpa for his birthday :)

Quiet rebellion gives hope (the loud rebellion too)

Child number 1 went to see Maddow with grandpa and learned about the quiet rebellion that is happening all around the US. Individual actions taken by individuals that alone seem so small but in context are very powerful.

She is just glowing

Child no 1 is with grandpa studying biology and then watching Rachel Maddow.

Don’t let it go to your head, I mean Ken Sim set the bar REAAAAAAALLY low with the kids. Still glad they were impressed :)

Kids report after @seanorr.bsky.social presented at the highschool today: hands down way better than Ken Sim “he get’s it“
“he seemed to know about what he was talking about”
“the topics he spoke about were things that mattered and i hadn’t thought about before”
“should we volunteer for him?”

I mean, I was like four or five and not fully understanding the adult conversation when I developed my shorthand for what I thought the phrase meant. I just invented the complex part I guess in my head. Lol

We should all be so thankful that our First Nations decided to tackle the housing crisis.

Oh, one of the reasons why I’m so busy is because I volunteer too much. But there’s a difference between volunteer acquaintances and being able to invite people to see a movie with you.

I need a group of friends. I had one, but apparently I picked terribly and had to step away when my brother got cancer and realized they were all anti-vaxxers

But now I’m just so busy, carrying trauma and I suck at cooking

I think my best option for finding friends at this point is to learn D&D

Do not get me wrong we need pools and schools, but right now these large projects being in the Olympic village and on the sea wall with both the aquatic centre and kits pool, it feels like a billion dollars going to rent those spaces from climate change. That doesn’t feel fiscally responsible

I feel like I’m the only person in Vancouver who is against building large projects right on the waterfront. Climate change and sea water level rise is happening in our lifetime. If we are investing in the long-term, shouldn’t we bring these projects in land more?

My dad also always put potato chips in his sandwiches. I’m beginning to think my family are the odd ones here.

Wait, when making a grilled cheese you put butter on the bread and then put the sandwich in the pan?

I always melted the butter in the pan, put the sandwich on top, swivel, flip, sop up excess with the other side then let it cook.

Did you grow up with the phrase “crossing the rubicon” in your household? I always thought it was like some super complex risky strategic maneuver from context. But this is the rubicon.

I hear my 6 year old self incredulously saying to my grandpa “I could cross that in my gumboots”

Yeah that’s kinda confusing.

OMG. As it pointed out, congestion is a real problem BECAUSE of the school!!!

in order for private schools to operate the Vancouver they really should require a traffic management plan, and that plan can be deemed unacceptable and require then to limit those who arrive by car else move

Just me rewriting jump math questions to actually reinforce concepts in a way that makes these kids not hate math, prioritizing good math habits showing your work and some real life connections. And cringe worthy whimsy :)

I also pulled this out of there. I almost called the fire department. I didn’t know what to do.

As I suspected, it was a toolbox

The “cold storage room“

04.03.2026 07:14 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

See earlier today I was feeling nostalgic about my grandmother’s home in Burnaby that had a “cold storage room” for things like potatoes or apples.

…it was actually a bomb shelter

So yeah, I was totally freaked out
