Back in 2023, members of my lab came together to write a review on recent applications of machine learning in biological research. I'm excited to share that the paper is now out in BMC Biology! link.springer.com/article/10.1...

New paper by my lab! PhD student @fallonmeng.bsky.social set out to use whole genome sequencing of Spotted Lanternfly from China & the US to better understand the invasion... and discovered that adapting to the city may be the key to their invasive success!

two beefcake lizards, one is doing a one-armed push up, making a muscle and freshly having kissed his bicep with a thigh tatt. The other is showing off his dewlap and flexing standing on his back legs with a sweat band on his head and wrists

You can join for these twitch streams as I get the whole dang book illustrated piece by piece over on twitch.tv/SarahMackAttack
Happens to me every time but I keep coming back.
Our NY area population genetics meeting is back and "upgraded", as Simons Foundation @simonsfoundation.org generously agreed to host. Please save the date: March 9, 2026. Look forward to seeing many of you from NY and beyond.
GBE | Structural Rearrangements and Selection Promote Phenotypic Evolution in Anolis Lizards
@raularayadonoso.bsky.social @kenrokusumi.bsky.social @anthonygeneva.bsky.social et al. compared the genomes of Anolis species, finding evidence of structural variation and signatures of selection associated with phenotypic diversity.
