comparison between apple's finder icon and mine. apple's is the split blue and white smiley face, mine is two blue and white anime girls making out
comparison between discord's icon and mine. mine is like a screaming cat on a blue/purple slimy background
comparison between celsys's clip studio paint icon and mine. mine is similar but rotated with some comic styling and pink and blue highlights
comparison between mozilla's firefox icon and mine. mine is similar but looks closer to the old firefox icon and brings back the little arm and gives the fox a cute little smiley face
last week i remembered that macOS lets you set your own icons and that *I* have the power to delegitimize the professionalism of the software that runs on my machine, so here's a thread of the 16 new icons i've made so far
i really forgot how fun it was to just sit down and make art for myself :')
Alright! Let's actually talk about this waterfall thing. It is an amazing showcase of many things that I adore from late 90s/early 2000s graphics.
I am replicating this in Blender through mere observation, so some things might not be fully accurate to the mind-boggling effects of the PS1.
What happens if a simulated computer plays a game in which the target is a chunk of its own memory? Some interesting stuff, it seems.
what do we call tweetjams now? (dunno. 248 bytes)

I made a video of my process crafting some creatures of our game Alterfaunaโจ
I'm using watercolor and colored pencils, my scanner (aka my best friend), Photoshop and Spine
(sorry for the 1rst part's bad quality, I filmed with my shitty phone, I work at night and the light is horrible)

So, today I'm announcing a new book project... and doing a call for papers: crpgbook.wordpress.com/2025/10/31/t...
It's an anthology of video game history outside the usual US perspective - an accessible & exciting panorama of different realities - and I'll pay 300 USD per article.
Please share :)
SUCCESS!!! WOW!!
it would be great if after a character died, your game made a .txt file which is just generated ascii art of their bones.
Look it's me :) Buy cool curated indie game periodicals
i hate how so many common web development patterns are just "get rid of all the failsafes of the default styles so if something goes wrong the website becomes unusable instead of ugly"
text-overflow:ellipsis is the worst offender of this IMO, being unable to see the text on a website is the worst
Enforced obsolescence is a games preservation issue

thats so cute
Iโve been doing โgamedev improvโ streams once a week now where I make a micro game from chat suggestions live, which gets added to our new toyful game project. Itโs super fun!
Both players have taken a shot at each other, and the plotter dutifully has drawn in their shots with their respective colors.
The first player has hit the second, destroying it. The plotter drew in a cute little explosion graphic overtop the second player's artillery installation.
Players input the parameters of the match on a teletype, and the plotter draws the landscape and the cannons. You then take turns firing at each other and the plotter draws out each shot, color coded for each player. Score a hit, and it even draws an explosion!

im here for the placeholder goats
there we go, now it's showing only currently perceived objects!
these placeholder goats are somewhat underwhelming, i want them to eat the gardens or something when they're untended in cities...

Oh I need to get back to playing this! This game is really awesome. Pure joy.
a free (limited) version of Replicube that runs on the web is in the works and almost ready!
i think there are a few ways to do this. i think i'll start with just one port per habitation, for simplicity, but future proof it so it's easier to refactor later and have multiple ports per.
quin10ko9.com/log/2025-06-... trying to share what I'm up to more!
