Loved spending time with PS 179 5th graders for Career Day! Growing up in Kensington and returning to share my story––and what it means to serve as their Council Member––is an honor. I hope they know the sky’s the limit. You can be from here and make it anywhere.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the six million Jews and the millions of others murdered by the Nazis. We remember, we mourn, and we recommit to fighting antisemitism, hatred, and fascismβ€”so β€œnever again” truly means never again.

Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, was murdered by ICE today. This agency only exists to terrorize us. We must abolish ICE and we must demand nothing less from those who represent us.

We’ll ensure that the significant public investment flowing into this neighborhood results in real jobs, real training, and real contracting opportunities for low-income local residents, particularly those in public housing.

Section 3 is an essential program that ensures low income workers are being hired for federal contracts in their own neighborhood. Last wee we launched the Gowanus Model Section 3 Initiative in partnership with the National Institute for Section 3 Empowerment (NISE).

Loved getting to watch kids at PS 230 make digital beats through LEAP (Learning through an Expanded Arts Program)’s inclusion-funded afterschool digital music production program. I’m proud to fund this music program that helps kids create together and have fun! 🎢

I’ve fought for language access, an ADA-accessible subway, and housing built with accessibility at the center. There’s so much more to do to ensure disabled New Yorkers are never an afterthought. I’m ready to get to work.

Thank you @speakermenin.bsky.social for entrusting me to chair @council.nyc.gov's newly created Committee on Disability.

I was 17 when I was diagnosed with lupus. That’s when I learned how many New Yorkers are pushed to the marginsβ€”not by choice, but by policy and infrastructure failures.

ICE snatched a NYC Council staffer following the lawβ€”going to a routine immigration appointment. This is an attack on due process, on our city, and on every immigrant here. Release them now.

Grateful to Chabad of Carroll Gardens for quickly replacing the Carroll Park menorah. We’ve been in close contact with the 76th Precinct, which reviewed footage & determined that the damage was caused by wind and hail. We reaffirm that antisemitism has no place in our city.

My colleague Vickie Paladino continues to dehumanize the over 1 million Muslim New Yorkers that the NYC Council represents. It is time that the Council takes action and expels her. We cannot allow such flagrant racism within our legislative body. My full remarks:

And lastly, my colleague @sandynurse.bsky.social introduced Intro 1519, a bill that sets the minimum wage in NYC at $25/hr, adjusting for inflation. We all know that NYC is expensive, so it’s time to take action to ensure that workers are paid what they need and deserve.
