"As a humane law enforcement department, we want to work with people who love their animals to make sure those animals are getting the care they need.

"Sometimes that means helping with resources, other times it means facilitating a surrender, which was the case here."

Those in need of temporary housing for their pets in the Cape Cod area are asked to call 508-775-0940 or email cape@mspca.org. If you'd like to donate to support this cause, visit mspca.org/emergencycape 4/4

Through the SafePet program, which provides temporary housing for owned animals impacted by natural disasters and domestic violence, pets will be allowed to remain in our care until they're able to return home. 3/

Given that space is now open at the Cape Cod adoption center and thousands of homes in the area are still without power, we've decided to open this space up to other pets in need within the community. 2/

Update: Thanks to you all for helping us spread the word, we were able to secure the fuel we needed and avoid any potential damage to the building. The nearly 50 animals who were evacuated yesterday arrived safely at our other shelters. ❤️ 1/
