For another, the lack of regulation in prediction markets is opening the door for anonymous actors to, at best, make bets based on insider knowledge, and, at worst, cause bad things to happen for personal gain.
Like with the $500,000+ made by a single user in a last-minute bet on Khamenei's death.
There's lots to worry about in the world right now, but prediction markets aren't prompting enough public concern.
Why? For one, Kalshi's Tarek Mansour says "The long-term vision is to financialize everything." Which is terrifying given that financialization opened the door for fascism in the US.
The vaccines do not meaningfully prevent transmission after the first few months. You should also get the vaccine, at least 2x per year if you can. Both of these things are true, and the real misinformation here is conflating covid conscious people with anti-vaxxers, which is purely insidious.
