After a year of recovery from a separated shoulder and rotator cuff injury, I can now make an overhead ice tool swing on my injured side. It's stable.
Part 3: My preciousβa wall of distorted guitar noise. I use an Aristides guitar with EMG 81/85 active pickups. They wail.
Then add pedals:
Spaceman Polaris (overdrive)
Walrus Audio Luminary (quad-octaves)
Does It Doom? Baghdad (distortion)
Electro Harmonix Freeze (infinite sustain)
Boom. Enjoy.
Part 2: Nylon string guitar with a pickup. Bend strings and create unusual grooves with hammer-ons. Combine that with effects like Meris Enzo and Mid-Fi Electronics Clari(pirate). Try harmonics. Riff in various octaves. Turn dials slowly. You'll eventually hear some oddly pleasant sounds.
Curious about the sound?
Part 1: This is straightforward. Use a choral virtual instrument with a subtly changing sequence and add staggered voices by octaves. Progression should mostly increase in pitch. Use the lushest reverb you have, but set the decay to low. This creates beautiful chords.
I find the poison-antidote duality poetic. I made "Atropa" sound like agitated delirium in a world that no longer makes sense. It contains three parts: (1) an increasingly surreal choral motet with piano, (2) stacked string melodies, and (3) a wall of distorted guitar.
Lore and gear talk time.
My latest album is about how one responds to the poison of well-concealed, predatory evil. The track "Atropa" builds on that theme by referring to atropa bella-donna, a poisonous plant that's also a biological source for the nerve agent antidote atropine. I love this track.

I swear by Ministry of Supply.

Want a wall of distorted electric guitar noise? Use active pickups, stack distortion pedals, and use an octave generator. Crank it to 11. Make it hurt. Void warranties if you must.
Stacking drum tracks across many different drum machines, each with their own bitcrush. Carve EQ to avoid muddiness.
Record a found sound or instrument sample. Reverse the sample, massively slow down its playback speed, identify interesting spots, and then turn those into samples for further processing.
Try a random tuning and see if you can riff on that. Not an alternate tuningβa truly random one. Be weird.
I've released a new post-rock/darkgaze album named "Of Wolves and Atropine."
About me: I focus on the tension between density and stability, not traditional songwriting. Why? Because layering textures makes the bleak sound beautifully triumphant.

ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.
If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...
Honestly I love rootkit. Building a light that can see hidden radio waves

Great piece on the idea, design and actual implementation
That is a brutal break. I'm seriously impressed you've bounced back so well. A shoulder separation and rotator cuff injury basically ended my climbing career. Well done.
yeah, tear gas gets a lot more chemically dangerous when it expires from old age or improper storage. tear gas is nasty stuff. itβs carcinogenic, can trigger asthma attacks and other respiratory distress, and it can cause miscarriages. please, PLEASE try to steer clear of it, bring leaf blowers, etc
I really donβt think theyβre prepared to engage the merits of actual American patriotism and not the dollar store cheap plastic aesthetic of patiotism theyβve been selling
All they have are aesthetics, but they are not virtues and they will crumble to ash
Lustening to an old favourite, synth pioneer bruce haack, for the first time in years because i'm trying to dig up vibe references for our composers youtu.be/DQbQBW7PRIc?...
Ugh I know those feels. Sorry about that.
Librarians, teachers, and government workers have had to spend an increasing amount of their time and emotional bandwidth defending the work that they do, fighting against censorship efforts and dealing with the associated stress, harassment, and threats that come from fighting educational censorship. Meanwhile, they are separately dealing with an onslaught of AI slop and the top-down mandated AI-ification of their jobs; there are simply fewer and fewer hours to do what they actually want to be doing, which is helping patrons and students.
Great work from @404media.co tracing the the multi-pronged attack on culture: book bans, slopification, and the sabotage of libraries, universities, and schools.

That's an awesome modification!
A no-input mixer creates brutal feedback and offers no mercy, including toward those attempting to wield it.
Broken 80s analog gear modified into a no-input mixer feedback synth gives zero fucks.

NEW: Salesloft said hackers accessed its GitHub account between March and June of this year.
During that time, they were able to access data that later helped them steal information from several customers, such as Bugcrowd, Cloudflare, Google, Proofpoint, among others, some likely still unknown.
Death Stranding 2 is the most beautiful game I've ever experienced or even thought possible, really. Words utterly fail me. This meditation on connectedness and steadfastness when confronted with shattering grief moved my very soul.
I award 13 out of 10 points. The best ever.

Hey, @qubitelectronix.bsky.social. The Bloom v2 module is rad and will never leave my rig. <3
