Just witnessed the longest line I’ve ever seen at the Pilsen post office for people trying to get passports. My guess is that people are frightened and feel like they need to carry another form of ID on them in case they get stopped by ICE / CBP and/or need the secondary ID to vote.
Where was lunch?!
Honestly, I'm so glad I've spent the last couple of years buying physical media for my favorite TV shows/movies. Streaming was good until it wasn't.
@theonion.com could have written this headline ☃️
And I quite like saying, “No, I haven’t seen this season of The Pitt. I don’t have HBO anymore.“
I have to say, not having access to the big streaming services for the last couple of months has been great. Watching more DVDs and Criterion Channel movies and reading more. Having less is so streamlined!

Came back from Japan in 2024 and felt exactly like this meme about living in the US.
Okay I am happy it’s still a thing! But also am mourning the loss of the paper format. nothing beats a Pizza Hut pan pizza you earned by reading 10 books!

We are moving out of ours after four good years! it was fun to run a gallery out of our living room, but I want my bedroom to have a ceiling over it. And a bathtub. And the ability to opt out of my husband’s music that doesn’t involve noise canceling headphones.
The kind of laugh I let out after watching the trailer for the D-Day weather movie. They got the hot priest to play a meteorologist ! They’re making another WWII movie but the angle is… the weather! Hollywood just cracks me up.
Still better than a Cybertruck

Reading my paper copy of The @chicagoreader.com in bed with a cup of homemade strawberry matcha is so damn delightful. Go find your monthly copy, Chicago! Picked mine up at the Lozano Library when grabbing my holds.

The real alternative musical halftime show is watching that news clip of Kim Cattrall scatting as her husband plays the upright bass

We might have to venture out and make some new IRL third spaces.
Agreed! I have a stack I’m attached to but am extremely discerning about all future books entering my collection. They have to earn their place! Also you can always photocopy or type up a recipe you like and try.
