Maya is back in front of the grocery store, looking reluctant to go inside. She sighs. Another person comes up next to her and says, “I hate shopping here too. It’s so overwhelming, it takes me forever.” Maya looks happier and says, “I know, right?” The comic ends.

Back in the produce section to get new bananas, Maya says, “Okay, let’s get this over with before I go crazy.” Panels show her putting cereal and other items in her cart, with cereal mascots in the background.
At the self check out, the machine says, “Unexpected item in bagging area.” Maya says, “No there isn’t!” “Help is on the way.” “Ugh…” A staff member Maya went to school with comes over to help. “Hi – Oh, Maya!” “Steve! Hey! I haven’t seen you since graduation!” “Yeah, it’s been a while!”
Steve scans his badge on the self check out machine. Maya says, “I saw Jessica today, actually.” “Oh yeah, she comes in here all the time. Can you believe her son is two already?” “What? I just saw him, he was a baby!” “Haha. Time flies, huh?” They wave goodbye to each other.
Maya bursts through the door of her apartment. “I’m back!” “Hi! Thank you so much.” Her boyfriend looks through the groceries. “Did you get the milk?” Maya realizes she did.

She pushes away the ads and has arrived at the bread aisle, which towers over her. “How am I supposed to pick?”
She looks at different loaves. “Honey wheat? Whole wheat? Whole grain? 9 grain? Whatever, this is fine!” She picks a loaf and throws it in the cart.
Maya now passes a candy display. “Wait, Easter candy? It can’t be almost April…” She sees a friend. “Nao! Hi!” “Maya! What have you been up to?” “Oh, not much. How about you?” “I’m moving this summer! Nick and I are buying a house in Florida.”
Maya says, “What! That’s exciting.” “Yeah, and I’ve been working on my second book. Did you get a chance to read the first?” “Ah, I haven’t had time yet…” “Oh, I’d put those bananas back if I were you, they’re really brown.” Nao points at the bananas which are once again overripe. Maya yells, “AGAIN?!”

The woman says, “I gotta go, I’m in a hurry. But I wouldn’t buy those if I were you. They’re about to go bad.” She points to the bananas in Maya’s cart, which have already turned brown. “Huh? How…” Maya swaps the old bananas with fresh ones.
Maya struggles through a very crowded aisle, bumping into people as she moves her cart. “Excuse me! Ope – sorry! ‘Scuse me. You’re fine!”
She passes a cookie display in the bakery section. “Saint Patrick’s Day already? Wasn’t it just New Year’s?” She puts some deli items in her cart.
Maya drives her cart through several aisles, becoming increasingly bombarded by sale signs and ads.

She opens her eyes and sees the huge interior of the store full of shoppers.
In the produce section, she runs into a woman she knows with a baby in the cart. “Maya, is that you?” “Jessica? Wow, you had your kid already? Congrats!” “Thank you! This is Brycen, he’s already 6 months.”
Maya waves at the baby. “Hi Brycen!” The woman says, “What about you? You married yet?” “Ah, not yet…” “You gotta get on that, girl! We’re getting old!” “Ha…”

10 am cruelly awoken by spouse with a smoothie. 11 am indoor farmer’s market. 12 pm give my poor car his ear medicine. 1 pm lunch at applebees because Alex has never been. 2 pm recycle some cans for $7.10.
3 pm play solitaire on my phone. 4 pm nap because I slept badly. 6 pm Alex cooks an ancient roman stew. 7 pm talk to my friend Speck while we draw hourlies. 8 pm eat the Puls Cum Iure Oenococti, pork porridge with wine sauce. 9 pm watch tv. That’s all from me today!
