Have i.e., e.g., and et al become uncommon expressions? My iPhone always capitalizes the I and E in i.e. and e.g., and changes et al to et all.
Surely our AI overlords can solve this problem.
Which also reminds me of one of my favourite comics ever, from @zachweinersmith.bsky.social's SMBC:
If you say to someone "Let me take your hand", they'd better respond with "I'm shaking like milk."
Everyone in Winnipeg is wondering when playoff Hellebucyk is going to show up so Canada can start scoring.
I liked men's Olympic hockey a lot more when it didn't include NHL players who treat it like an NHL game full of cheap hits and fighting.
The one thing I really don't like is how the CBC only shows the competitor's name and country before and after their run. It would be so much more useful to always show it in the corner as they're doing their run.
Didn't they always used to show that?
The thing about watching the Olympics is that you find yourself googling things you never thought you would, like "nose butter".
Society:
"Teenagers are so antisocial these days. They just sit inside on their phones and don't do things together."
Also Society:
"No teenagers allowed!"
CBC has really stepped up its game with the Gem app for the Olympics this year. It's pretty great.
I'm giving up giving up things for Lent, for Lent.
Et c'est le Monorobert au QuΓ©bec
Monobob is definitely my favourite name for any Olympic event
I had a big colourful coffee table book about science and the future for kids in the early 80s, and one of the futuristic forms of travel it showed was a hyperloop. I used to to doodles of it in class in grade 1.
I discovered two access ramps down to the Assiniboine that I didn't know about before - behind Balmoral Hall (east end of Cornish Street) and behind Westgate Mennonite Collegiate.
Biking conditions were perfect on the rivers early this morning, and...

The things we never used to have to consider!
My favourite public transit photo I've ever taken is this one of the Washington DC Metro in 2008.
This guy is probably nostalgic for a bygone era where you could visit "Germantown", "Swedenville", and "Little Italy" because it was so great how those people stuck together and held onto their heritage, not realizing that it is the same thing that is happening today, and it is wonderful now too.
βIt were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.β
Luke 17:2 KJV
And thatβs red letter text, by the way.
I am very lucky to be able to go biking through the boreal forest and on the frozen surface of the 10th largest lake in the world.
Lake Winnipeg is spectacular!

Agreed. Normally I am a strong supporter of city centre train stations, but the O-Train connection from downtown to Tremblay Station (i.e. Via) is actually great.
Unless it were a through-station that solved other issues, bringing Via trains back to Rideau doesn't seem necessary.
It's the Australian equivalent of the most Canadian headline ever
Weather forecast for Winnipeg showing it is currently -38Β°C with a windchill of -51
Weather forecast for Antarctica showing it is currently -20Β°C
Any all inclusives in Antarctica? I'd like to get away from this cold.
The other day we ordered supper from Gojo, an amazing Ethiopian restaurant near us on Sargent. Everything was fantastic!
But it was this bright green, super spicy sauce that smells and tastes strongly of garlic and cilantro that I loved the most. It's called Kochkocha, and it's wonderful.
It's me
