Kemi Badenoch presses Starmer to strike Iranian missile sites RAF jets have been shooting down missiles fired by Iran, but are not taking part in strikes on its sites.

She literally said we should be attacking Iranian missile bases just 4 days ago.

Badenoch denies calling for UK to join US-Israeli war on Iran Conservative leader accused of taking confusing position after she said Starmer should β€˜do more than catch arrows’

At the most basic level of 'have some self-respect', Conservative MPs should not put forward someone who visibly is not intellectually equipped to be prime minister as their candidate to be prime minister.

Despite all the screeching and Trump-grovelling of the British right, support for the US action against Iran has *dropped* to 22%

08.03.2026 01:10 πŸ‘ 163 πŸ” 53 πŸ’¬ 9 πŸ“Œ 0

Exactly. And Trump can’t cope with Starmer’s probity because it makes it harder to hide his own culpability re the war in Iran.

But yeah, by all means let's allow it to oversee medical surgery and manage drone attacks

I find the absolutely basic everyday failings of AI honestly pretty fascinating. I use it as a shortcut at work but woe betide anyone who doesn't check and double check every single syllable it generates, because it's right only very slightly more often than it's wrong.

So I asked AI to critically evaluate something I said about the Catcher in the Rye. It asked a follow up question, and I said yes. It then went into a spiral where it couldn't discus the novel at all. I asked it to override its glitch; same result. Then I said it was useless and it sorted itself out

Do they think people have literally no memory of past events at all?

The more Blair and Trump oppose him, the more likely Starmer is to recover politically in the UK. They don't realise the favour they're doing him

If anything, that rather supports Starmer's position.

If Tony Blair is telling you to get involved in a war because the USA claims a country has weapons of mass destruction, run away, because they almost certainly don't.

Because yes, many adults are fakes and phoneys, which is annoying as hell. His recent experiences as the novel begins take him well beyond that and he sees malignant dishonesty everywhere, people simply not caring about the harm their everyday white lies are doing. Holden represents youth in crisis.

This places a huge burden on himself, at the time he's expected to set out on his own journey to adulthood and independence. He can't do that in a world he mistrusts and fears; yet rather than whine, he turns that fear not inward but to the most innocent, vulnerable and trusting people in the world.

All art is interpretation, obviously, but if you read what I said and still think he's just a whiny teen, then it's like we read different books both times. He imagines himself as the only one who can physically catch and save young children from being hurt by the world; that is heartbreaking.

08.03.2026 06:32 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I always saw him as just a whiny teen. But now I feel differently: he's damaged, can't cope and the place he thought he had in the world no longer makes sense to him. He resorts to being anti-everything because he wants to save those younger than him from being disappointed by the world like he was.

Juno at 22: annoying movie, Jason Bateman’s heel turn is bizarre.

Juno at 38: actually devastating, also he’s clearly a manchild grooming her Jesus Christ.

Knocked Up at 22: Seth Rogenc is hilarious, she’s gotta chill.

Knocked Up at 38: this man is an actual irresolute degenerate? Leave him?

US release 50,000 β€˜missing’ Epstein files that contain Trump claims President Donald Trump denied all allegations and recently said he has been β€˜totally exonerated’

Are they doing this to distract from the war with Iran?

β€œFor all we know, we could be in the middle of Keir Starmer’s finest hour”.

Starmer’s critics say he is imperiling the UK’s special relationship with the US...

But is it Donald Trump who's doing the damage?

the war is unpopular but it's also illegal but it also doesn't serve any purpose but it also undermines diplomacy but it also is set to produce the opposite outcome as intended but it also already has hundreds dead and threatens more but it also will not make anything better for anyone but it also

Am not saying what Iran proposed would have been enough, I dont know, but it seems US negotiators did not have the expert guidance to understand it correctly

On top of all the reporting that this war of aggression was planned well in advance, it seems that the reporting also indicates that the US political leadership are quite literally too stupid to understand basic diplomacy. I mean literally not smart enough.

The first tool of those who wish to destroy democracy is to attack its very principles.

Let’s be clear: Gorton & Denton was a free & fair election where the Green Party won.

A democrat congratulates their opponent & moves on.

Farage & Reform U.K. are the Orban’s & Trump’s of Britain.

So presumably this Daily Mail campaign against "foreign-born" voters will quickly be applied to their foreign-born star columnist, Boris Johnson, and their own France-based for tax purposes non-dom owner?

Articles of impeachment need to be dropped before noon today. If this doesn’t happen, then there is nothing this cult Congress won’t allow him to do. He can commit any crime with impunity. We don’t even have a country anymore. We are a rogue state.

Farage / far right anger over by-election result entirely understandable. Because having wanted to emphasise the commonwealth and the white working classes, the two got together to defeat him. Which is complete humiliation.

Political fraud is next to non-existent in this country. Voters are already required to show ID when voting. Being foreign born does not mean you cannot vote. This is outright racism from Reform. All political parties should be widely condemning Farage's claims.
