Finally got my thesis printed to massage my fragile ego. Here's Reina Fenix showing it the respect it deserves.

Fair enough! I can see a logic to Loughborough near the Olympic legacy site for sure. I think a number of others have struggled, and it's a very crowded marketplace to try and enter into.

Lots of other universities similar to Hallam had tried it years before - and to my knowledge they all basically failed to make any money. We were, and are, totally baffled by it.

No. No one can. I remember it being announced and it honestly came out of nowhere - just all of a sudden, an all staff email saying "we're opening a new London campus, aren't we clever!" Then almost the next week, Husbands quit, taking his enormous final-salary pension with him.

BUT I can more than appreciate that's a lot of detail for an article and sounds super confusing. That's because it's actually mental. And we've not even gotten into what they're gonna do for all our zero-hours Associate Lecturers, or for new starters - although there's this new DC scheme...

To clarify: only teaching staff with significant responsibility for research stay on TPS. Research-only staff will go to LGPS. Still unclear why that's allowed - years ago SHU researchers were moved *to* TPS from LGPS because uni said they *had* to be on TPS legally @sheffieldtribune.bsky.social

Hallam bet big on London. Now itโ€™s cutting jobs in Sheffield. With no-one to run it and millions spent on a state-of-the-art building, is the Brent Cross campus at the heart of the current crisis?

Our local academic publishing house has a treat for everyone:
"The story that hatched Mothraโ€”available in English for the first time, translated by Jeffrey Angles, who wrote an afterword about the novellaโ€™s cultural context, the unusual story of its composition, and the development of the 1961 film"

I know it's not popular to say in my research-work circles, because we desperately need more/+diverse trustees, but - very literally, being a trustee almost killed me. It used to be something I'd always sign up to do & encourage others to do the same. But there's no support for when it goes wrong.

When asked about if previous poor decision making has led us to this position, the University CFO basically responded "the past is a foreign country". Great stuff.

WEBINAR: Epistemic Injustice, Oppression & Ignorance: An Introduction for Social Researchers - Sign-up Page Expand your conceptual toolkit with our accessible introduction to the concepts every social researcher should know.

Heard of the term 'epistemic injustice' before but not sure what it means? Coined by British philosopher Miranda Fricker in her 2007 book, Epistemic Injustice: Power and the Politics of Knowing'.

But as an idea, it has a much longer history than that. Learn more at our webinar next Tuesday at 7pm.

One of the sacked reps from @uniteitf.bsky.social spoke at our victimisation strike rally yesterday. Whatโ€™s happening to them is another stark example of the union movementโ€™s โ€˜leadershipโ€™ losing its way.

Please join us in sending full solidarity & give them a follow.
