WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO YOU? started as a question: how did the particles we're made of find their way from the Big Bang to us?
I'm thrilled that the first translations are coming out! Wonder is the same everywhere. If you're curious about science, it might answer questions you've never asked.

"To worsebetter something" (verschlimmbessern) is perfect for both technology and some of my attempts at editing academic writing. Thank you, Germans.
Thrilled to be a PAPERBACK writer. My book, which traces the mind-bending journey of our atoms from the Big Bang to now, is out today. Simon Winchester calls it “A truly astonishing and eminently readable work.”

“We’re used to having a fairly good handle on things. But the impression at the moment is that things have gone further and faster than we expected. That’s an uncomfortable place as a scientist to be.”

Love this review of "What's Gotten Into You."
"Truly the idea of wrapping your head around how the solar system formed, how earth came to be life-bearing, and just how brief the existence of humans actually is… it takes my breath away. Loved this, would totally read again."

I believe that this was Fred Hoyle. I write about this in my book, "What's Gotten Into You, the Story of Your Body's Atoms from the Big Bang Through Last Night's Dinner." Hoyle figured out that the explosions of large stars were an essential to the nucleosynthesis of the elements heavier than iron.
