The latest CPI data came out today with mixed movement. Eggs dropped while sugar, coffee, and bananas are up and have all hit record highs again. Yup, tariffs.
Globally, more than 700k people die from suicide every year with male deaths on top. There are no countries with reported data where female suicides are more common than male. And males are 4x more likely to die by suicide in the US. Source @ourworldindata.org

Starting a very intentional new chapter today. Joining Strava as an iOS Design Technologist (think prototyper) where I can merge my passion for movement with my passion for technology. And oh boy there will be data!
Just once I wish theyβd have pink smoke just to throw everyone off.
When you design an experience, to make it truly remarkable is tell people you give a shit about them. You donβt achieve this by chasing trends or money. You do this by learning compassion and empathy.
A proto bar chart by Buache 1767. Titled: Echelle du Pont de la Touradelle. The columns show the height of water in the months Jan. - Dec, probably averaged over several years. Horizontal lines show some events, like a flood in 1740.
A similar chart from 1770 for the Seine, with a numerical table at the top.
Portrait of Phillipe Buache
π #dataviz #history Who invented the bar chart? Everyone credits William Playfair in his 1785 Commercial and Political Atlas
I give that honor to the cartographer Phillipe Buache for lovely 1767 chart of the heights of water along the Seine.

Hereβs a shot I took from the summit of Mt Conness about 4 years ago. I typically summit this mountain annually to document a dying glacier on its north face and because itβs a freakin sick Mt to climb.
Live code playground for Swift anyone? This looks like fun!

While inflation numbers are slightly lower than expected for March, grocery prices have continued to climb. Eggs and Coffee are, again, at record highs. And this is all pre-tariff madness.

They say if you can climb After Seven (5.8, 6 pitches) in under 3 hours youβre ready for the Yosemite classic Royal Arches (5.7 A0, 13 pitches). We cruised it in 2hrs 25mins. Super stoked.

Funny I didn't know this before. Sankey diagrams are named after Captain Sankey, who created a diagram of steam engine efficiency that used arrows having widths proportional to heat loss. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...
