Cassandra at point-blank range by Sandra Moussempès (translated by Carrie Chappell and Amanda Murphy) cover
"Translated with an astute attention to detail, and crisp, continuous tonality, Carrie Chappell and Amanda Murphy have offered us a glimpse into the amorphous and readily engaged mind of Moussempès..." -Greg Bem, on Cassandra at point-blank range: www.exactingclam.com/issues/no-20...

Vignette en noir
Or a shadow in the pan.
A flash portrait essay, in optical illusion. With flickerings from Malik Ameer Crumpler, Phyllis of Berkeley Books of Paris, Orson Welles, Henry Griffin, Paris Heretics, the color black, and all your faces want with question.

🧐 Hm...well, in the Age of Generative AI, I guess I'll take 'dusty' if it means we're still talking about humans doing humans! I swear 2026 is so horny.

Y’all, please question articles that discuss foreign authors (especially dead ones) who are now appearing in English translation and receiving coverage in global outlets without any citation of sources. Biographies, in particular, are major critical sources and should not be erased.

Hanging chad question of my 2025 is this, how can we help English translation as a field & English translators as artists to stop acting in colonial-style erasure? & with that, related, to stop fronting sanctimonious & sacrificial? I ask this of us all & take seriously my status in the conversation.

Next Tuesday, December 16th, @parisheretics.bsky.social will celebrate their 5-year anniversary. I was so pleased to work with them on Loving Tallulah Bankhead. Hope you’ll turn out for the event at Point Éphémère, for radical love and several helpings of heresy! (Below poster by Lucas Lecacheur)

Carrie Chappell reading Hélène Bessette’s Histoire du chien
Really pleased to have a new poem @pamenarpress.bsky.social. I wrote a longish post about it on Instagram, my personal relationship with the accordance/discordance of the French "frôle" with the English "fondle." As ever, talking to the work of Hélène Bessette: www.pamenarpress.com/post/carrie-...
