I wonder if @slotkin.senate.gov and @peters.senate.gov think this is acceptable for a senate-confirmed position. If not, they obviously shouldn't vote for confirmation. If yes, why haven't they offered to fight the majority leader yet?

There are a bunch of people on Ann Arbor social media who just seem to be angry about everything and their ideology doesn’t seem to be particularly coherent beyond some general sense of scattershot grievance. It’s not healthy.

This on a post about The Dean, a proposed student-oriented high rise on the southern edge of downtown Ann Arbor (adjacent to the University of Michigan’s new practice field and dorms on the western edge of campus) that was recently granted a re-zoning by City Council on Monday night.

Nextdoor post from [redacted]: “four bedroom house for rent. $700 a room available for august 2026 with a 12 month lease. Looking for University of Michigan students. House located at [address redacted], one block from Main St. and three blocks from the student union. Utilities included in rent, free parking and free laundry.”

Nextdoor post by [redacted]: “I think we are over building these things. I understand rents have come down significantly in many of them. We own student rents and charge affordable rents that are now competing with those high rises so that we as independent landlords are having trouble getting tenants in our houses. We have enough high rises, please.”

I had to dig into a box of cords last month. And I found what I was looking for, lovingly coiled and cable-tied, where I had placed it a decade earlier while saying “this is sure to come in handy someday”.

I get it. I can’t get rid of my box of cables, lest I need one of them.

I don’t think it’s a good idea. Redundancy is important. People may not always have their phone accessible, especially when driving, cycling, or doing outdoor activities. Or it may not be charged, the network could be down, etc.

Who do I not want to hear from about stairs?

Temporary Pause for Some Student Clubs Staff who may have been sponsoring a club are not assigned to run clubs, they volunteer their time to do this. During contract negotiations some staff are unable to continue this sponsorship. All clubs must have an approved adult sponsor who agrees to supervision, safety procedures, and district expectations before the club can operate. AAPS can't get their act together to pay their teachers fairly. And now school-level admin is asking for parents to be scabs during contract negotiations. We need solidarity with teachers, don't do this. #a2schools #a2boardofed #a2council

Our current building codes aren't working well. Single stair reform would allow safe, more affordable, better ventilated small and mid-rise buildings in the places where they fit.
