If you ever want to read a paper for free and can't find it otherwise, email the lead author and politely ask for a copy. You will not be bothering the person. You will in fact make their whole entire day. I have had scientists get so excited I asked they sent me everything they ever published.

I like to think of AI as an extension of what we can do. You have to have the foundational knowledge to use it effectively and once you do you can leverage you abilities in greater volume. With that said it is often used incorrectly.

Anyone who’s recently looked at raw survey data also knows that the auto-fill predictive sentence keyboards are also extremely harmful to response collection to the point where I steer away from open responses as much as possible.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti was an ICU nurse at a VA hospital. His life, through his profession, was dedicated to serving his community and our country.

As so many have now seen on video, his final act before he was killed by federal agents was doing everything in his power to protect his community.

Do you appreciate @nws.noaa.gov's posts on Bluesky?

Did you know that this account is a pilot program that may or may not be continued and even expanded to NWS field offices?

NWS is soliciting comments here! www.surveymonkey.com/r/PrototypeN...

This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024–25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

My name is Josh Turek. I'm a two-time Paralympic gold medalist. I'm a proud State Legislator from Council Bluffs who represents the reddest seat held by a Democrat in Iowa.

And I'm the guy who's going to beat Joni Ernst. Repost this, give us a follow, and let’s win together.

Hi I’m Evan, a PhD student @UMass Amherst who studies complex social ecological issues using innovative and novel social science techniques. My dissertation focuses on human wildlife conflicts such as depredation in marine systems and how anglers perceive threats in freshwater systems.

Having read the replies to most of these posts and, as a social scientist, the fact that these replies are about the posts themselves with scientists chiming in, reinforces the message of the paper that this app is in a better place now than Twitter, because of conversations like this.

Others can speak more to this but I’ve been on a couple guided trips for striped bass the last couple years and the guides have said they’ve seen more sand tigers and know where they like to hang out.
