"unusual" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. What it is is good old fashioned state censorship and the criminalisation of Palestinian existence in every part of public life. Also, it as almost nothing to do with antisemitism and everything with Germany's narcissistic memory culture.

"A U.S. diplomat who was in the embassy when McGurk arrived found his steady advance astonishing. β€œBrett only meets people who speak English. … There are like four people in the government who speak English. And somehow he’s now the person who should decide the fate of Iraq? How did this happen?”"

Record pace of strikes in Iran bombing campaign: analysis U.S. and Israel hitting more targets than any previous campaign, numbers suggest

Airwars, a non-profit group tracking civilian harm in conflict, found that the initial days of the U.S.-Israeli campaign in Iran hit significantly more targets per day than any campaign in recent decades. The targets also map heavily onto the highest populated areas. airwars.org/record-pace-...

There’s this feeling that if gay Palestinians are murdered for the immutable characteristic of being gay then that’s reprehensible, but if they’re murdered go the immutable characteristic of being Palestinian that’s fine

The only thing that's really different in 2026 is that the government makes meme videos now. Other than that, it's all the same assholes from 25 years ago.

Basically, if they have some secondary backup, or can even continue to weaponise drones to block Hormuz while keeping regime functional, I'm not sure the war is over in any real way.

None of this is to knock Mike's analysis, I appreciate it, just not clear what it means for war to be over.

That said, it's unclear if the Iranian missile stocks are that low, and whether they can manage anything of a supply (very hard, even without a war where you have lost air superiority).

More importantly, what happens as missiles run out? I'd guess the Iranian regime had some plans, maybe not?

This is an interesting, and strong, hypothesis, and I'll circle back to it in 72 hours.

Much of Iranian comms I'm going to dismiss as bluster (natural, and even necessary/correct in a war), and the US military is still far more capable than most imagine.

This Hollywood group β€” linked to the Israeli government and supported by individuals in the Epstein Files, including a Russian oligarch and Casey Wasserman β€” is leading a smear campaign against a film about a 5-year-old girl killed by Israeli forces, to stop it from getting an Oscar:

Hardly anyone in the mainstream national conversation is prepared to state the basic reality, which is that the world is run by microdick clinically sub-cognitive narcissist madmen who are going to get us all killed. Instead, they project a sense of tactical and political meaning onto what is, basically, the bloodlust of a screaming child.

Netanyahu shaking hands with Putin

It's amazing to me that there are still people who think they can be pro-Ukraine and pro-Israel at the same time. This is from Netanyahu's 2019 campaign, 5 years after Russia annexed Crimea. Keep on deluding yourselves that you can be moral on one cause and immoral on another.

Not sure how diverting oil shipping to the Red Sea is supposed to help. We do remember that the Houthis shut that down easily for a long time and could do it again, right?
