Obviously this is low on the priority list considering *everything* going on but it’s one more reason EMS is in the state it is. If you don’t have someone guiding you, you can easily spend $3000 trying to get your cert before ever getting a job that pays $15/hr in some states.

Instead we have a morass of 50 individual state reqts and one national website. State agency directions for reciprocity and reinstatement vary heavily and can be baffling to both personnel and applicants.

We need an overhaul of the EMS system specifically with regards to licensing and training. There is no reason it should be this goddamn frustrating to get a cert reinstated or transferred in a new state.

We should all be under a general NREMT with states augmenting training requirements as needed.

Agree, in hindsight it was a huge mistake not to revoke MD & DO degrees themselves when the anti-vaxx/grifter campaign began in the early 2000s.

The AMA claimed that revoking practicing licenses & board certs was enough.

It wasn’t and we need to be positively draconian about it now.

I think there’s a strong argument to be made for quarantining him. The fumes coming out of his sweat would get bystanders drunk.

Letting police under the umbrella of “first responders” was like giving the safe combination to bank robbers.

So here’s the thing- you can only trade on the cache of “heroic first responders” for so long and that time ended roughly 30 years ago. Between private equity and the near total reliance on volunteers and pay-per-call, Fire/EMS is about to collapse without significant funding overhauls.

Like, multiple things can be right: 1) He cannot control it and *on the face of it* doesn't mean he's racist. 2) He *absolutely* caused harm to the four Black people he yelled the N-word at. 3) He's not inherently racist just because he said it because it's physically impossible to *never* hear slurs, especially in spaces where people learn how harmful slurs are. 4) BAFTA/BBC fucked up by editing out all of his other outbursts *except* that one. 5) The first time he yelled the N- word that night, he should've been moved to an area away from microphones, to a green room, or to an area where he was still included but kept from potentially causing harm to more people. 6) He should apologize for the words he used, not his disability.

My mentor is a Black queer disabled woman which means I don’t have to walk through minefields blindfolded.
