On late Monday afternoon, as the brisk autumn air swept through New York City, Ben Shapiro loomed over the crush of foot traffic in Times Square. Splashed across multiple electronic billboards off 47th Street, the Never Trumper-turned-Donald Trump campaigner appeared in a sporty jacket, and in one shot, sporting sunglasses like a celebrity straight out of Hollywood. The splashy advertisments βwhich included laudatory blurbs from The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, and Joe Rogan βurged Golden Globes voters to nominate his show for Best Podcast, one of just 25 programs in contention for the award's inaugural year. It's unclear how much Shapiro doled out for the Times Square spots, though it goes without saying that advertisements on the coveted billboard real estate are anything but cheap. Shapiro's aggressive campaign, however, is not limited to New York City.
