generational trauma is scientific fact. Also they grew up during Jim Crow, where it was given that whiteness was rightness. They were also spoiled (industry boom) and lived through the we-are-the-best propaganda of the Cold War. No excuses, but there are very real reasons.
I knew this was happening, but I didn’t know the numbers affected until I read the article. 23. 22 trans women and one trans man. The federal government taking out its biggest hammer to deliberately harm 23 people. 99% of trans woman prisoners are already in men’s prisons.
None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.
