The House of Lords Digital & Communications Committee just published their report on AI, copyright & the creative industries, and their conclusions could not be clearer.

Greg: What was the wording on the task?

Alex: Make Achilles invulnerable by dipping him in the Styx. Most invulnerable Achilles wins.

Greg: Dip the baby. The whole baby. They’re not going to hang onto a heel or anything stupid like that.

Alex: First, let’s see Thetis’ attempt.

I can confirm this is just delightful.

Every British writer, artist, creative whatever should read this, get angry at what the Government are planning to do and fight them like bloody fuck. How fucking dare they steal out work and hand it to US tech bros. It’s not theirs to take.

An exception for AI training is like an exception for any crime retroactively. It’s a terrible precedent. You buy the right to commit the crime after the event, by lobbying.

They can do this for environmental damage, negligence, whatever, whenever they like.

Cunts.

I have a full on, unimpeded view of a toilet, Richard. I have hours of data on who checks the windows in new surroundings to ensure privacy.
AND ON WHO DOES NOT.

I live in a yard opposite a hotel situated in a very old building. I can see directly into two bedrooms AND their en-suite bathrooms.
I have seen ... things. Terrible things.

It would mean the lobbying by big US tech firms had succeeded, and the protests of the UK's creatives had been ignored.

People's work is not the government's to give away.

If you're in the UK and you care about creatives and the creative industries, please write to your MP!

I could, of course, be more eloquent. But why should I craft a careful sentence when these thieves continue to steal my work?

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

I have successfully lobbied for 'no politics on the shop floor' at my work. Staff and punters alike.
It's very soothing.

Am I the only person who thinks STIGMA, directed by Lawrence Gordon Clark was originally shown on ITV, not the Beeb? I mean, I know how to work the internet and everything is telling me it's part of the original run of A Ghost Story for Christmas. But I sweat I remember an ad break in it.
