Ice spike in a water dish for birds
I've seen photos of ice spikes but never seen one. This appeared in a shallow water dish for birds in our NW Surrey garden this morning. #icespikes #ice #metoffice #bbcweather

Broken off pieces of historic coral in the Crystal Grotto at Painshill
Hard to understand why visitors to historic sites have little or no respect. Recent damage to historic coral in one of the Crystal Grotto pools at Painshill
Had to make do with a photo section of a report in a large loose-leaf binder in the archives at Painshill. Would really like to be able to visit but, as you said, highly unlikely
The Grotto at Warmley is very interesting too. I received a very pleasant welcome and guided tour a few years ago because of my volunteer status as a member of Painshill's Grotto Service Team.
Jersey tiger moth
Our NW Surrey garden seems to have become a 'hot spot' for Jersey tiger moths. Almost every time I go into the garden I disturb one. Last evening I saw 3 at the same time with maybe another 2 @mothiduk.bsky.social
When I visited this wonderful building 6 years ago it was called the Cilwendeg Shell House Hermitage. Shell patterns on every wall and the ceiling

5 greenfinch in my NW Surrey garden - a real treat
Greenfinches are a rarity in my NW Surrey garden so to get 5 at the same time today was a real treat @bto-gbw.bsky.social
NHS planning to cut doctors/nurses jobs, maternity and A&E services to meet the govt's βeye wateringβ NHS savings.
Cuts will force more people to go private.
Healthcare must come before fiscal rules.
Private firms milking 30%-40% profit from NHS contracts. End privatisation.
Tax the rich.
In Parliament REFORM have voted against:
Ban on fire/rehire of workers on worse working conditions.
Ban on exploitative Zero-hour contracts
Improvements to paternity leave
Allowing workers bereavement leave
Improvements in sick pay
Why are workers supporting a party that will reduce their welfare?
π¨ Thursdayβs elections prove it: First Past the Post is broken. 5 parties, chaotic results, millions left unrepresented. We need Proportional Representation β NOW.

Actually built between 1760 and 1770, and it is now thought highly unlikely that it was destroyed by soldiers (the story was Canadian rather than American too). Much more likely that local people took the slate and lead from the roof after the 2nd World War

I heard some Herbert from the Spectator praising Trump for restoring βfreedom of speechβ the other day. In fact, Iβve heard several British right-wing blowhards say the same. Are they utterly, utterly stupid or morally bankrupt or both?
If you donβt want history to be re-written please share this video widely - because the only way to stop that happening is to constantly call this boll**** out with the actual facts
Today, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde boldly called out Donald Trump for his hatred and bigotry at the National Cathedral Prayer Service. Now, the GOP is attacking her for speaking truth to power.
REPOST if you stand with Bishop Budde against Trump!
Thames Water is collapsing. NO BAILOUTS for the shareholders and banks who caused this mess. Tell the government to take it into public ownership PERMANENTLY and protect the public interest. #WeOwnIt
