Opposite the temple was the Karaneeswarar Holy Pond (also possibly called "Gopathy Saras - Indhira Theertham"). Bit neglected but apparently it's the place to be for some traditional water ceremonies.

Legend has it if you bathe in its waters, all your illnesses will be cured).

To be honest, there wasn't much to really do here as an outsider (no information desk or centre to learn about the history, no stores, etc) so 1 was in and out pretty quickly after taking several photos

The temple itself is pretty impressive though (check out the details in those carvings!)

At the end of a long day in Chennai, I made sure to swing by Arulmigu Karaneeswarar Temple, a massive temple to Shiva with several smaller shrines to other Hindu deities inside.

The premiere of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (the Game of Thrones spin-off that everyone forgot about) was a joy to watch. Hope they can maintain this quality for the full six-episode season.
